Title: Appears it's one thread per new member - here's mine
Post by: skeptigirl on May 31, 2007, 08:23:13 AM
Hi.

Been invited by my friend, McQ. Became an atheist sometime in high school. That period in my life is a bit fuzzy and quite a while back. I've been promoting critical thinking, science, media literacy, and an end to war for quite a few years. Nice to meet you all.

Whats up?

Yeah, I did the good-ol crossover in high school as well. Whole thing took about 2-3 years lol.

If ya dont mind me askin, why's high-school fuzzy?

Much of my life is fuzzy when I think back - but it probably has something to do with the beer or whiskey involved.

Anyhow, welcome skeptigirl.

Welcome to the forum, skeptigirl.

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who has trouble remembering things.  We're all too young for "old-timer" moments and yet things are fuzzy.  Go figure.

It was a while ago, and those were the 70s.

Glad to meet you all.

I need a bit of help. Is there a code cheat sheet? I used  I think because that was on the smilie link but it didn't make a smilie. And I think I tried for italics and it failed.

My code for [url] and
Quoteworked.

I'm a fast self learner, but need the board codes.

I suppose I should search around a bit but that involves work. :p

Now that smilie worked.

Testing ;)

Hmmm, so did I misread the smilie page for the winky code? Guess I could look again.

Nope, it puts a wink for the winkie smilie.

Now that is weird, ; ) worked, but when I pasted : wink :  it worked but changed ; )

Yet in the other post : wink: didn't work.

OK, I am confused. Maybe I need to turn one of those codes off? That's beyond my computer knowledge.

Something I discovered, you've got to have a space before and after the leading and trailing colon in the smiley code to get it to work.  In other words, type it in space-colon-code-colon-space.  Hope that helps.....

Also, the link to the help is http://www.happyatheistforum.com/faq.php?mode=bbcode

So when I just retyped the smilie codes, they worked, when I edited the first post the new one worked but the 1st one reverted back to code.

Now I edit the post and neither works.

Are you guys messing with me? ;)
