Title: The Elephant Parade
Post by: karadan on August 26, 2010, 08:18:17 PM
I'm gutted i didn't hear about this sooner. London recently had an exhibition of model elephants covered in art to help raise awareness for the plight of the Asian elephant. A good cause cleverly advertised.

I found this great vid which shows many of them.

In 1999/2000 there were over 300 cows like that all over Chicago. They were very good!

We had a bunch of pigs in Seattle that were similar.  I think they were fashioned after the permanent pig sculpture at Pike Place Market.  They were scattered throughout the city, it was cool.  They might still be there, this city doesn't usually go out of its way to remove art, which I like.

I missed it as well, and I live in London.

Some of them looked great, I can't help but feel some people seriously half arsed their elephants though. Painting something one colour all over does not qualify as art in my (intolerant) opinion.
