Could you actually have put less effort into that post?

Actually, god = polyvinylchloride.

Matter = energy.

I got as far as where you talk about NDEs with photons, gravitation forces and so forth - I'm sorry but this is really stretching it.  One problem is the fact that varying intensities of OBEs (which are often associated with NDEs) have been shown to be produced by varying millivolt currents applied to the right angular gyrus of the parietal lobe.  Later experimentation confirmed this finding.  Some severe and frequent migraine sufferers also report having full OBEs.  Also, NDEs-like experiences can be elicited by the use of Ketamine and DMT.

Try seeing what conclusion the evidence leads you to instead of seeing what evidence you can make fit your preconceived conclusion.

However, I think this post from that board by Prea explains a lot:

If god is energy, why bother calling it a god? We have a word for that already. Energy.

The photons that don´t exist as souls exist as god.

This explains why near death experiences involve bright light, and also why light makes plants grow.
It gives life. This energy created you from itself and you are still a part of it.

It is god.

Doubleposted.

In any case, can not the near death experiences be largely explained by the neurons shutting down (the light) and not actually being dead (senses)..? Why do we need a god to explain them?

You know, whys and hows can get you to the bottom of one's knowledge on a given subject. And the number of valid answers can often shed some light on the validity of an argument.  :P

I think it's worth mentioning I was an atheist (or maybe more agnostic) before I took some LSD in July....and then put these pieces together

 :brick:

Mind altering drugs are NOT an efficient means of figuring out reality.

Prea, do I need to go through the warning process with you or are you going to start discussing these topics with people?  HAF is not a dumping grounds for your opinion.

Your views on deities or the supernatural or whatever has nothing to do with what I was pointing out.  I was pointing out that your methodology for inquiry is backwards.

Well that's a shock. That you haven't taken any LSD since July, I mean.

Even with past incidents known, I will give Prea the benefit of the doubt and wait for an actual discussion to arise otherwise after a couple of days I'm just going to lock the topic.

One more reason to avoid powerful psychotropics.

Probably not, actually. This is merely an attempt to set yourself up as some sort of authority. It failed.

Quote"Nobody forces you into eternal bliss or anywhere to do anything. There are many levels of love and happiness where you can choose and where you fit in. That includes this physical dimension where you can follow your own bliss. Let me cite the best NDE references, in my opinion, that concerns the tremendous ecstasy that can be found in NDEs

Sexual orgasms can't compare. You are so high. Magnify that to infinity! (Carter Mills)

One woman told me that when she found herself in the light, "The feeling just became more and more and more ecstatic and glorious and perfect ... If you took the one thousand best things that ever happened to you in your life and multiplied them by a million, maybe you could get close to this feeling." Another man wrote, "Then there was peace. Peace, but in order to give an idea of what one means by that, the letters would have to be written thousands of miles high in soft glowing colors ... It is a complete happiness, total happiness, beyond the realm of happiness. (Dr. Ken Ring)

Then I simply remember I became more blissful, more rapturous, more ecstatic. I was just filling and filling with this light and love that was in the light. The dynamics of this light are not static at all. They are so dynamic and so much going on in there of love and joy and knowledge. As you take it into yourself, or as it goes into you and you receive it, your ecstasy level just becomes tremendous ... I reached the point in the rapture of it all where I thought to myself suddenly, the first thought: "I wonder how much more of this I can stand before I shatter?" With that thought, the light began to recede. So, the universe will not let us shatter. We cannot take in more of this bliss and joy than we are able to handle at a time

You're actually going to cite a personal website?  I'd be more impressed if this guy actually took these anecdotal reports and put them through some structural equation modeling to come to some more robust conclusions.  You could at least reference the Journal of Near-Death Studies.  It is thing such as this Prea that lead me to think that you are attempting scientific endeavors but have no clue how to go about it or you may think you do but lack structure and a foundation in research methodology.  I know you're banned but if you may be lurking and see this.  My advice - no matter what you wish to examine find a decent text on research methodology and start from there.

Just noticed that the thread was actually locked...my bad.
