Okay, forgive me if this is a stupid question...but it has been on my mind all day.
I mean, why is there even two different genders to begin with? Where did sexual reproduction arise in evolutionary history? I tried looking this up, but I found nothing more than the fuction of sexual reproduction, and certain advantages.
I am aware that sexual reproduction is useful because it provides genetic diversity, but at what point did it come into play?
