What ARE your hobbies?

What, like you don't know mine already or something?

Ok..... his, since he really ought to tell you..... kayaking, video games, chickens (namely silkies), annoying me, computer stuff, hmmmm........ the rest escape me at the moment.

Sewing
Gardening, though this is more of a necessity this year
Canning, same as above
Beading
Telling DK he has to do the dishes.....

I like to knit and crochet.  I also like sewing basic quilts and stuff like that but don't really have a good place to set up to sew anything big right now.  I'd also like to get into painting but know I'll make a mess so I'm waiting till I have a garage or something I can work in.

Photograph and suduko puzzles, reading factual books and Terry Pratchett stuff.

Paintball, reading, WoW, plotting the latest Halloween display several months in advance, fishing.

Books, lots of books.
Net games, until I find a job can get a desktop and afford WoW again...I miss my WoW.
Movies...lots of movies.
Designing tattoos
poetry.

I just don't think you're ready for a game that goes for five days, often without result.

Geocaching is a high tech treasure hunting game. According to the main Geocaching (http://www.geocaching.com/) site, there are caches on all 7 continets!

What is a cache (pronounced "cash")? It is a small "treasure" of various sizes. A film canister or pill bottle (micro), a tennis ball can or tupperware container (small), a military ammo can or paint can (medium), or a 5 gallon bucket or trash can (large, though I've never seen one of these) that are hidden some where on the Earth, hence Geo. So Geocache is literally Earth treasure.

Inside of these you can find anything that fits that isn't food, dangerous, or contraband. What you will find is what is called a log book. So when you find the cache, you sign the log book. Then the "owner" of the cache knows who has found his/her treasure. You can take anything from the cache except the log book, but you must leave something in return. This is great for the young'ins.

To find these caches, you log on to the site, and get the GPS coordinates and some directions and often an encrypted hint. You then plug the digits in to your GPS and track it down. Most GPS units are accurate to within 10 feet or so, but the variances of each different make and model of device will typically get you to within a few dozen yards. Sometimes the hiding spot is obvious, other times the hunt goes on for some time, sometimes without reward.

So that's all you need, a GPS unit and an adventurous spirit. And internet access I guess. There is a Geocaching app for IPhone (http://www.geocaching.com/iphone/) as well as other smart phones, I believe.

I will plan out a road trip to stop about once every hour. Works as a good pee break and leg stretch. There are many, many "cache and go's" along side most highways. But on a lazy weekend I will go out caching. Look for the title of a cache to say "____ with a view" or "Incredible view" and you will find some spots that you didn't know existed around where you live.

It's funny, because if you really think about it, geocaching is using multi million dollar military technology to find tupperware hidden in the forest.
