LHC closes in on massive particle (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-10746900)
QuotePhysicists at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have seen several candidates for the heaviest elementary particle known to science.
If the observations are confirmed, it would be a first for Europe; so far, the top quark particle has only been generated by one lab in the US.
Dr Arnaud Lucotte said the discovery could assist physicists in the hunt for the elusive Higgs boson, or "God particle".
Details of the top quark candidates were presented at a major particle physics conference in Paris...
Can you just imagine what will happen when a scientist actually says 'We have found the God particle!'. It hardly bears thinking about does it?
Yeah, I'd really love to see that nickname forgotten.

It won't matter, Theists will NEVER admit to anything that proves the Big Bang or the Singularity theory. Finding the god particle, if it proves that there is no god, I believe that theists will continue to believe, partly because they are brainwashed to do so, and because it comforts them. Just my humble opinion.
