Title: Forums, blogs and podcasts for atheists and "freethinkers"
Post by: The Black Jester on June 24, 2010, 06:20:21 PM
Not that I'm thinking of cheating on you, HAF, but...

...anyone have any suggestions for other blogs, forums or podcasts related to atheism, freethinking, and general godlessness?

http://www.rationalskepticism.org/ (http://www.rationalskepticism.org/) is the bastard child of Richard Dawkins forum. Top class creationist trashing!

I read a lot of blogs.  These are my favorite atheist blogs.

http://friendlyatheist.com - I like Hemant.  He wrote a book called I Sold My Soul On Ebay and is a math teacher.  Super nerd goodness.  =D

http://gretachristina.typepad.com - She talks about sex a lot, so if that makes you squirm, you might want to sip this one.

http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula - I think of this as the 4chan of atheist blogs.

http://www.heavingdeadcats.com - Multiple contributors and good editorials.

http://www.atheistrev.com - VJack is smart, but very liberal so conservatives might not like it/might love arguing his points.  =D

http://www.blaghag.com - Smart biology grad, starter of boobquake and feminist I can relate to.

http://mojoey.blogspot.com - Deep Thoughts is Mojoey's blog, he does the atheist blogroll and he posts about religious hypocrites, especially the sexual deviants.  LOTS of posts, can be kind of depressing.  :(

This is the only forum I participate on now, but I used to be active over at ThinkAtheist.com - it's a pretty good community, but there was a bit too much self congratulating going on over there for my taste.

This is awesome!!!!  Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together.  BTW, forgive my ignorance, but what is "4Chan"?

For serious discussion, I like Daylight Atheism (http://www.daylightatheism.org/).

I mod at Thinking Aloud Forum (http://www.thinkingaloudforum.com/forum/search.php?search_id=active_topics), which runs the gamut from serious discussion to major retardation.

I like Greta Christina's stuff, and she contributes quite a bit to DA as well.

I used to enjoy AtheistRev, but yeah, the politics got annoying.  Not that I dislike politics, but the conservative there doesn't get much air time, or fair play.

4chan is a website where people post anonymously about anything and almost everything (no child porn, obviously, but that's about it), but it's more the often irreverent attitude of PZ and the regulars that reminds me of 4chan.  It's like the antithesis of the atmosphere here - on pharyngula, no one is above ridicule or vitriolic attacks.  It can be really frustrating if you disagree with what's being said, but it can also be really entertaining.
