I know a guy who owns one. It's not a runner though. He bought it when the soviet block collapsed as scrap but in the end used it as a 'Gate Guard' to his scrap yard!

Dang most of my personal pics are too big and I don't feel like resizing so here's one I had already fixed. Im on the left my Tank Commander in on the right and the beautiful and battered D-32 is behind us. Most of the steaks and discoloration are actually battle damage. The brown stains behind me are acually rust from IED's blasting the paint off there's also a few decent dents and gouges but my butt is in the way.

Wow!!

How does the tank stand up to the dust? Do you have to do any maintenance yourself or do you just drop it off to the engineers to deal with?

that is one heck of a machine to be in charge of. Hope you have air-con :)

Because of rather oversized fuel intake systems, tanks that do not have turbine engine can stand up to quite a lot of mistreatment and still keep running... As far as I know, that is.

Not so well in the dust but managable. The worst is the air intake for the turbines it has three 45 pound 4 ft tall air filter and despite a reverse air jet built inthey need to be banged out  when they reach 60 lbs or more which means every other day or so.(or every day during dust storm season)

You do a great deal of maintnence yourself if you use a tank for 24 hour it may need 3 to 6 hours (or much more) of maitnence much of that is assisting the mechanics do the specialised jobs they are trianed for but much is the crews responsability to fix. I was the gunner so number 2 of 4 on the machince. Howerver supply, maitnence, and crew training all fall under the gunners job title. They don't really have A.C. there is a turret fan to cool the computers but it does little. We do use the N.B.C. system for cooling... well relative cooling it blows about 85f degrees in the summer but that feels cold compared to the 140f degrees the tank gets inside in the same season.

32 is the tank in the center you can see the damage a little better from this angle.

And the second picture is track getting switched out on... well someone from my platoon's tank.

Hopefully you have ear protection.

Yeah, that first one is the Bovington "Tiger I E"...the only one left in the world that is restored to running condition.
My favourite fighter...the best in the war. This is the only flying 109 with the original Jumo Engine (all the others have Spanish Merlin engines). Some guy in Canada owns it:

My son is standing next to the Heinkel. This is one of the few surviving He111's left. It came from Spain and flew in the movie The Battle of Britain.
Notice how small these aircraft are. There was a Spitfire too, but I can't find the photos.

The Spit isn't flying, but it's not uncommon to see the PB1Y (the B-25 analogue) up and about.  You can hear these planes long before you see them.

Don't you just love the smell in those places? That faint whiff of Swarfega and oil. It always brings back memories of when my dad used to take me to his base near Andover to look at the Gazelle and Lynx helicopters.

I live a couple of hours north of Corpus Christi, TX where the U.S.S. Lexington (http://www.usslexington.com/) floating museum is located.  And while my time in the Navy saw me spending a large chunk of my time onboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln CVN-72:

Although, now, years later my wife has been wanting to have something for home defense, while my idea looks something like this:

I'm thinking that a 12 gauge would be a better option for her right now anyway so we'll probably end up going with one of these:

And one more thing for fun, here's some sea sparrows being launched from the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln:

Honestly...and it's sad for me to say it...but nothing gives me a bigger stiffy when I hear a four engine Pratt & Whitney Bomber fly 100 feet over me.

Now...if I could just afford a ride in one of these...

Might need to bring a few paper towels though...*sheepish grin*

And here is a nice Dutch toy, capable of destroying sea sparrows  ;) . I wish I had one mounted on my car.

Speaking of aircraft carriers, I was on CVA 19. Look it up, you'll be surprised.
