I wanted to start a thread where I could post links to the weekly Ask An Atheist show I'm helping out with in the Seattle area on Comcast channel 77, in case anyone wants to check it out.

If posting this is breaking any rules, let me know. I'm certainly not trying to spam the forum! This show is something I'm really excited about and I do hope people check it out and give me some feedback which I can pass along to the producers of the show so we can make it as engaging and successful as possible. =D

SPAMMER!!!
No, this is really cool. I hope the thread will be something that will help you make this take off and succeed. I'm all for it.
Hahaha, thanks for your encouragement! I'm terminally socially awkward, so I often wonder if I'm doing or saying something that, to other people, would be obviously in poor taste or otherwise inappropriate.
Coooooool! Congrats and good luck. I shall be following along.
Cool...I will have to watch it later when I'm not tired. The intro looked good though
Thanks guys! It looks like they might be setting up a podcast for it and they have a link to an mp3 of the show as well, so once the dust settles and things get routine, I'll be able to post sound only links as well as a link to the video. I'm super excited! Next week I'll be doing the camera work and the week after I'm on phone duty. I'll be sure to remind ya'll when my call screener episode is coming up so you all can call in and pretend to be insane theists that I have to politely turn down. =D
If you get a chance put in a plug for Camp Quest
Hopefully we can do a show about secular parenting and secular camps in particular and if we do, you bet your bonnet I'll be putting in a plug for Camp Quest. Or, possibly setting up a phone interview...?

Amanda from Camp Quest inc is very good on interviews.
Great first show, Pinko!
Here is our second show. One suggestion I've already heard is to make sure everyone's shirt is properly ironed. =D

Due to technical difficulties, the first four minutes of the show were lost, but that was basically just introductions anyway.
Ask An Atheist Episode 3
http://askanatheist.blip.tv/file/3784865/
Oops! I forgot to post episode 4 last week, but this week we didn't have a show since SCAN was closed for the 4th of July so here is episode four, late but not forgotten. =D

Here is the youtube vid for the first 10 mins of the latest episode of Ask An Atheist. I'll post the link to the full episode when it's up. If you go to youtube you can watch the other 4 parts of the hour long episode.

This was Jerry's (on the right) first time hosting and by the second half of the episode he was nice and relaxed and really got into it. Sam did a great job too, and this is only the second time he's hosted.
I'd like to embed an episode on my Ask An Atheist page - which one do you think is either your favorite or most representative of your program?

Personally, I really liked the second episode with Case and Casey (we had a few religious callers which is always good) or the fourth with Sam and Mike (I enjoyed the content of this episode, but the callers were a bit lackluster).
Can you share a link to the page once you have it up? I'll be sure to post in on the AaA wall on facebook and (hopefully) send you some traffic. :D We're hoping that the show will gain momentum and thus gain attention from more people who don't necessarily agree, but I wanted to get some input from you guys regarding how we could invite theist participation in as non-confrontational a way as possible. Sometimes it feels like simply existing threatens people, so inviting them to participate in a call in show with atheist hosts might seem like an all out attack.
My Ask An Atheist (http://www.squidoo.com/Ask_an_Atheist) page has been up since May of 2009 and gets fairly decent traffic often in spikes though questions have slacked off lately. I opted to put up your introduction video. I may add more in the future. Is there any other promo link for your site that I can put up to maybe drive some traffic your way as well?

Awesome! I just ended up spending about an hour and a half reading a bunch of your stuff. =D

THANK YOU!!! :hail: :hail:
Another nonsense word:
faith. It can mean so mean different things people forget during debate that religious faith is different than being faithful to a lover or having "faith" to sit in a chair.
Sophus, that's a really good point. I hate hate HATE it when I'm talking to a person about religious faith and they try to say it's the same thing as having faith that gravity will continue to keep us on the ground or the faith I have that my friends and family would help me if things got rough in my life.
Indeed. I really enjoyed episode six. Those two are hilarious.
On Mike Adams, Thumpalumpacus was first to suspect (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=5290) it was all satire. Not necessarily any less stupid, but nonetheless, a little bit less sincere.
Here's episode 7 - Conspiracy Theories! (I'll admit being a sucker for a conspiracy theory or two in my life, for a short time. Something about being 'in the know' on something huge and crazy was pretty attractive to me when I was younger.)
http://askanatheist.tv/
They also post the show on Youtube, but they can only post 10 minutes at a time, so I think the embedded version on the site is less hassle.
Please do keep posting links here!
Episode 8: Childhood Indoctrination

Episode 9 - Atheism and Star Trek.
Woooo! We've already received criticism on this one for being too silly. But, then again, who hasn't been accused as an atheist or free thinker of being too serious? You'll never win them all...
Also, this is my directorial debut, so be kind - I had no clue what I was doing!
http://blip.tv/file/3986926/

Another hour of interesting chat. Did you enjoy being the director?
Quote from: "Tank":D Another hour of interesting chat. Did you enjoy being the director?
You know, I did, but working with such intelligent, confident people when I was taking up an authoritative role in the group was a challenge within a challenge for me. I think I did OK, but I could definitely improve quite a bit.

Well in my experience nothing turns out to be as easy to do as it looks, except possibly falling over when drunk which takes no prior knowledge or training at all
What's up? Did these stop?
I really enjoyed the star trek clip in that episode. I don't think i ever saw that particular one before.
Quote from: "karadan"I really enjoyed the star trek clip in that episode. I don't think i ever saw that particular one before.
Yeah, I had never seen it before either. Pretty spot on. :)
Woo! I'll watch that today on my lunch break.
Libbie. Is. So. Cute. I hope the show gains internet fame. It's cool to see atheists as real people. Good stuff.
Cool, just subscribed to the podcast, I'll check it out. Thanks!
Libbie IS cute. And very nice.

Thank you, George, let me know what you think!
Episode 11 - Atheists in Fiction 2 with Mike and Libbie!
http://blip.tv/file/4062513/
Hey, sorry I haven't been keeping up. Had to get my laptop worked on, yadda yadda. Anyway, we had one hilarious show and one super somber show since I've been around.
Hilarious - Episode 12 - viewer calls and emails
http://blip.tv/file/4090380/
Somber - Episode 13 - 9/11 conspiracies - the case against controlled demolitions
http://blip.tv/file/4125289/
I directed the 9/11 episode. There was a TON of media involved, so it might seem kind of awkward at times, but I guarantee you, we did a hell of a lot better than I thought we would without any previous practice with everything we had to juggle. Jerry was the hero of the show.
Thanks pinko!
Here is our latest show with guest host Keight Fahr. We also had Greta Christina on recently for an off the air interview. It was exciting to meet her!
Episode 14: Faith, Hope & Clarity

Is Libbie wearing Marian Gold's shirt from the big in japan music video during episode one?
That's the first thought that popped into my head... I'll update later.

Edit: Linked to the wrong one...
I'm on episode seven, and I have to say it's one of the best shows of it's type I've seen.
The hosts are interesting,
REAL people... And that is hard to find on most shows, you either get one or the other!
They're also so far proving to be reasonable, intelligent, and consistent with their message... Which I've NEVER seen on a comparable Christian show, regardless of how fundamental or otherwise that they may be. I'm not saying that TV Christians aren't inteligent, just that I'm not picking up on that.
The topics are interesting, as are their views on said topics. Overall I'd rate the show ten out of ten stars, at least from what I've seen of it to this point.
The technical issues are a bit taxing, but that's to be expected.
We're getting better with the technical aspects, but there is always the problem of poorly maintained, malfunctioning equipment. The city is talking about eviscerating the SCAN budget when in reality, the place could use a solid upgrade. Oh how I wish I was rich and patronly.

Anyway, thanks for watching! Call in this Sunday if you like - we can always use callers. Here's our latest episode where Mike interviews the awesome Greta Christina.

I hate phones, and talking on them... I never know when it's my turn to talk.
Quote from: "Byronazriel"I hate phones, and talking on them... I never know when it's my turn to talk.
Haha, I understand. I'm the same way! Ask GAYtheist, he tried in vain to get me to talk on the phone, I would have none of it.

Here you go, Season 2 of Ask an Atheist, episode 1 - Mormonism. With the adorable Libbie, or as the internet calls her, The Rack and the adorable Sam, or as the internet calls him, The Tranny. Damn you, cruel cruel internet!
http://blip.tv/file/4207735/
Also, our show is being re-run on the station, so there will be Ask an Atheist live on Sunday afternoon, then re-run on Monday evenings. Yay!
Also also, we've been nominated for a few awards, including my personal favorite...best religious programming! I'll be going to the awards show, so I'll let you all know how it goes and maybe post some pictures. Especially if I can get one with the crazy conspiracy guy who claims that Jesus' name was changed by the Catholic church so that they could secretly trick everyone into worshiping Satan! He wears a bullet proof vest everywhere he goes and screamed to me the other day that HE IS A JOURNALIST when a woman wondered into our studio looking for the producer of his show to do a segment and I asked him if he could help her. A segment on what? Who knows! I'm going to assume it had something to do with queers poisoning the drinking water in a plot to appoint green party candidates to key political offices which would ultimately lead to forced labor camps of some kind...
I just watched the last one on blip.tv, and now I'm sad.
It's a great show, really.

Wait -- did the show end?
No, I've just been remiss in posting the weekly episodes.

I'll try to catch up later today.

Ah, okay then. What time does the show air on television?
3pm Sundays PST. :(
Also, if you have any suggestions or any comments/questions you can totally post them here and I will totally pass them on. Totally.
Holy crap, they answered my question! Well, kind of.
I need to get a T-shirt that allows everyone to know that one of my trains of thought ended up on TV!
