Hello everyone, I am the founder of ChristianPlague.com and it is a new site for atheists to voice their ideas to try and get across to Christians in a civilized and non hostile way, which for many atheists may seem hard but we are really nice people!  :headbang: If you would like to submit an article to be featured on the main page please email me at moscow5@live.com Please keep in mind if you go to the website right now it will look very bare, but once I start receiving articles and help from others this could be a fast road to an interesting community of people. Hi Frantic, welcome to HAF.

I'm not really sure how a website called "Christian Plague" could ever be successful in approaching Christians in a "civil" manner...could you ellaborate on your plan because if I were a Christian my mind would close when I saw the word Plague just as I would close my mind if I found a website called "Atheist Plague.

Btw, when posting on forums it is bad netiquette to make your first post an ad or anything that sounds like an ad for your own personal website....I edited out the hyperlink from your OP for this reason.

Echoing what Whitney said, comparing Christians to a plague is not exactly going to interpreted as "non-hostile".

I think calling it a "plague" is just being honest about how some atheists, myself included, feel about Christianity. Even Thomas Jefferson, who was, needless to say, a very classy writer, called it perverted. And Nietzsche who always wrote with class andcontinues to have a significant influence on Christian thought (especially stereotypes toward us   ) has said things such as
"I call Christianity the one great curse, the one enormous and innermost perversion, the one great instinct of revenge, for which no means are too venomous, too underhand, too underground and too petty -- I call it the one immortal blemish of mankind."

"Christianity was from the beginning, essentially and fundamentally, life's nausea and disgust with life, merely concealed behind, masked by, dressed up as, faith in "another" or "better" life."

I agree that it may echo the honest abut how many of us feel towards religion in general but that still doesn't make it a civil approach.  

If the intention of the website was to convey through the title that atheists think religions are like a mind virus maybe ChristianMeme may have gotten the idea across in a less loaded manner.  But according to the OP (whom I'm not expecting to return at this point) the focus of the site is civility so it would make more sense for that to be conveyed in the title....kinda like why we are called Happy Atheist Forum instead of many other random phrases that could have been used that would likely represent many of our thoughts as well.

Anyway, he's basically trying to do exactly what we are doing here so I personally see no need to send him articles...HAF has a blog that is being neglected because I need people to help with it.

I completely agree with the others. While I fully believe that religion is like a plague, I really don't think it's the most suitable choice of words if your goal is to approach Christians and try to explain the logic of atheism. This name will get their hackles up instantly, and I can't say that I'd blame them. Now if your intention was to create a sort of sanctuary for other atheists, it would not be an issue.

Sixth-ed. The word "Plague" is loaded, and inherently uncivil. Sometimes honesty and civility are mutually incompatible, so you should probably decide which one you want to go with.

I am in total agreement with you on this, my friend.  Christianity will go down in history as little more than a pockmark on the face of humanity.

Something makes me suspect that this person is here merely to advertise his/her/its site.
