Played cello for a number of years. Then the orchestra director took a job out of state and we got a guy that looked like a penguin and had a serious Napoleon complex. He made hell for the guys in the symphony. So, I left and took the best players with me and within two years he was let go for not keeping the orchestra up to the standard that had been set.
Moral of the story: don't mess with guys that hold big pieces of wood between their legs.

I've been playing the drums since i was 8 years old. I haven't been in a band for about three years now though. I can't have a kit set up in my current place but when i move in about 6 months i'll make myself a dedicated studio. There's a serious shortage of drummers where i live.
I used to play Tympani in an orchestra along with all the other assorted items which come under the heading 'percussion'.

I almost play 3 instruments...
Tried keyboard for a year (sold it).
Guitar seemed more natural (in my office, sitting dormant)
Theramin was too interesting to resist (got it on a shelf behind me)
I guess you could say I've mastered my voice. I sing and make money doing Voice work.
... so I got that going for me ;-)

I was going to post a song I remember from childhood "My body is my instrument" (maybe not so much a song, but I think it was from Sesame Street) but I can't find it.

I've played Saxophone for ten years, I even attended a University jazz program for a few semesters before I changed my focus to Biology. I love to play, in fact my girlfriend bought me a jazz Christmas book with lead sheets and some jamming background tracks as a gag gift this year. 
I was required to play jazz keys as part of that major, so I still dabble a little in piano, in addition to a bit of voice.
Music is great, no?

Thanks for those links, Joe. I was amazed at how well Yoko Onishi played Clair de Lune! I also didn't realize that you could get a Theramin for under $500, let alone for about $150. Sweet.
You should keep playing yours, for sure. I know most people think they sound weird, and by common instrument standards, they do, but they are so cool. But then, I like Bagpipes, too, so I may be a little bit off!

i have played guitar for... maybe 14 years now. i also fumble around on bass. i would love to learn how to play the cello. it sounds so pretty or earie all with one note.

Like much of the rest of the world, I play the guitar and the bass as well. I attempt, from time to time (usually after drinking), to play the harmonica but it's never pretty.

I played violin for several years. I wish I'd stuck with it, but now I mainly stick to singing along with the radio. I was in the select women's choir in high school too.
