Title: Greetings from Kansas!
Post by: EvolutionisRight on December 12, 2009, 04:05:59 AM
Hello all! I'm glad to finally find a place where I'll be accepted for my views. I am an atheist, but I do have much respect for the Christian church, though our beliefs maybe different, I believe that being respectfull and kind to everyone. I'm also a rising artist who wishes to become a cartoonist sometime in the near future because I enjoy making people laugh. Because laughter really is the best medicine....course some asprin doesn't hurt either. :D

Hello and welcome, EvolutionisRight.

I agree, a bit of respect, even if it isn't always deserved, can go a long way.  I have trouble mustering it for some of the more obnoxious evangelical fundamentalists, but blatant disrespect doesn't accomplish anything except perhaps self-gratification.  You're in good company here.  Off the top of my head I can think of three or four people on this forum who are aspiring artists/humorists.  I look forward to seeing some of your work, if you choose to share it.

Thanks for the welcome, I do feel the love, and if I didn't consider it as a sign of weakness I'd weep with joy. roflol

I'm guessing Kansas is not the most welcoming place for an atheist, I hope you feel more at home here.

I've heard that Kansas is an intellectual desert. What do you say to that?

Well i wouldn't say its an intellectual desert, don't get me wrong we have just as nice schools here than anywhere else. The problem is there are too many people who are against teaching evolution even though its a valid science. I myself am good friends with my art director who is, what I would call a "Super Christian" who won't even believe that humans and dinosaurs didn't exist at the same time. All the facts are there, its just some people are either too stubborn or too dead set on their religion that anything that isn't stated in the bible might as well be false.
