Title: How well drawn is this?

I think her pose is very organic, like she's calling over her shoulder's to say bye to her mom as she joins her friends to play. She even has a name, Mika Bukuro, and she lives on the western edge of the Yaskeiu plains, near the coast. She must be running towards the coast as well, as powerfal winds constantly rush over the plains from the west, coming in from the sea.

Maybe there is a festival going on? She certainly feels carefree and innocent.
Just how well drawn is this..?  :hmm:

It's not bad. I may not be the best person to judge, but it seems interesting.

If it had more color and a setting, the story might be a bit more apparent.

Are you going for realistic, anime realistic, or cartoonish anime?

Definitely not realistic. *laughs*

The left shoe/foot looks good.

^ I agree.

Her left leg looks a bit too high. Maybe like she's skipping or something?

Quote from: "Renegnicat"Definitely not realistic. *laughs*

If you are concerned about proper body proportions; that could use some study.

Other than that, the left hand kinda looks like a foot.

The face looks like anime.

Yes, I am concerned about proper body proportions.

So the proportions are way off then? I couldn't tell, though now that I look at it again, y'know, a few days later, I feel that I am not satisfied with this. Back to the practice board!

*thanks whitney. I owe you one.*

Are the proportions on this girl better? Or are they way off as well?

Way off:

Her head is too big
Neck too long
Chest is lopsided
Legs aren't too bad though - but feet are too big for the legs.

This is the result of several studies of anatomy and proportion. I think it's an improvement, but I can't be sure. What do you guys think?  :hmm:

Your missing a vital part of the male anatomy, lol.

Is this study done from a photo or other real-life depiction of a person/persons, or is it from a study of other drawings (anime or manga)? It's getting closer to real-life.

It is closer, but still off.
Here's a decent anatomy art reference: http://odduckoasis.deviantart.com/art/A ... l-27484310 (http://odduckoasis.deviantart.com/art/Anatomy-Tutorial-27484310)

Constructive criticism to follow: His right arm looks crippled. and if it is a he then the waist and hips are not right.  Men don't have an hour glass shape; they have broad shoulders that taper slightly to a fairly undefined hip.  Thighs should be slightly larger than the calves and never smaller (for normal people).  You also might want to look at drawing hands and feet in detail on their own so that it is easier to draw them when viewed from far away.; they are better this time, but still off.

Maybe you should focus on faces; get those down well and then move onto the body.  Or work on drawing the body and after you get that figured out move onto faces.

I went ahead and changed the linked image of the young naked man with no junk just in case anyone was viewing this at work or other NSFW circumstances.

Success!!!

I think this one is more typical a male body and proportion, don't you think? Though, it might be hard to tell given the way he is dressed. Have a looksy!

I'm more satisfied with this drawing than with the others. But I think it might have some problems that I don't currently see. Hmm... :hmm:

Ah...good idea, I didn't think of that.

Renegnicat, how long do you spend drawing these?

I'm not sure. 25-30 minutes? Tops? Do I need to spend more time, then?

The way I learned, you should think of the body exactly as it is: it's a series of bones with musculature, fat, and skin on it. In order to draw a person, you must have a picture of how the body is proportioned, the way the bones line up. An example would be that the length of the spine and arms combined should be about the height of the shoulders. The rib cage ends right around the same place as the elbow. The skull is about the length of the sternum. Everything can be related to everything else, and from that you can give proper proportion and location. For example, here's what my skeleton looks like:
(https://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi31.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fc367%2FWillravel%2FSkeleton.jpg&hash=62acf8c275a6b107785b787a8bafe15bcd5c3d79)
Not the best artist's rendition ever, but you get the idea.

Yes, you should be spending as long as it takes to get it right.  Sit down, work on it; come back to it later, sketch back over it; redraw parts that aren't right etc.  We spent a whole week on drawing one person when I was in high school (that would be about 5 hours when you add all the class time together); it takes longer to draw something when you are learning.

Personally, I'm not that great at drawing people, I'm just good at telling when their proportion is off.

Ok, whitney. Listen, I've decided to get good at drawing faces first. Then learn about body proportion. Should be interesting.  :)

I spent double the time I usually do drawing this picture. Given that, I'd say the results are, well... dismal. I'm not sure at all if I got the proportions right at all. Usually when I think I have, I don't. Things I like about the image are the arm and the lower waist, which I think maybe I did ok. But I haven't really focused on anatomy yet; the body was added as an afterthought to the face, which I spent the majority of my time one. Given that, I can't help but feel that I really screwed up on her chest and her...urm, bells. Might Not Be Safe For Work, folks.  :hmm:
