Title: Magnetricity?
Post by: Recusant on October 15, 2009, 06:48:47 AM
Spin ice?  Magnetic monopoles and magnetic energy currents (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8307804.stm)?  I'm having a time trying to wrap my head around this one; it's really amazing.
I'll be the first to admit, it's not quite as exciting as the carbon nanotubes in Ultima22689's thread (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4005), but it's very intriguing stuff.  Who knows where this might lead?  Maybe nowhere, true, but  for us technophiles, these are very exciting times.

Ha, I hope they do find some application for it but yeah, the stuff that is being done is positively amazing. Has there ever been a time when technology has been making so many breakthroughs at once?

Kurzweil may be a little loony toons but he HAS to be on to something with all of these discoveries and technologies popping up all over the place.
