Title: Funny and Ironic anti-evolution pamphlet
Post by: LoneMateria on October 10, 2009, 05:09:35 PM
So I came across these.  A guy on reddit was given this 2 page pamphlet and he knew he had to scan it and show people.  Its hilarious and so ironic so I thought i'd share with everyone here.  I didn't know where to put it so I figured this would be a good section.  This is some churches stance against evolution and therefore its advocation of "Intelligent Design" or as I like to call it "Jesus don et".

ok... so, people actually believe this?

I mean, someone (Herb Grossman?) took the time to put this together, and I'm assuming that he and others pass it out.
Plus, they have a web site.

Just astounding.

BTW, here's the site:
http://www.trashevolution.com/

it has the whole tract on it in text form (if you're so inclined)

... and be sure to contact Herb with your "questions, criticism, praise, and support" on his contact page...

Lol its all such garbage.  I wonder who their target audience is with this.  Teens?  What makes them think they will change their mind over a small pamphlet?  Who is gullible enough to take these people seriously I wonder?

Further showing that any idiot with internet access and the ability to download a WYSIWYG html editor can post any sort of rambling crap they want on the web and unfortunately, someone, somewhere will buy it wholeheartedly.

Also ironic that Science makes it possible (electricity, internet, computer, anonanonanon)...  Unless they think that technology is also spontaneously created...

Maybe they should be forced to just pray and if these pamphlets magically appear by their god then they can distribute them.  Or better yet they need to make these using the most primitive computer available, they shouldn't be allowed to use an evolved computer.  Fuck them let them use an abacus to make these lol.

This simultaneously--and equally--disgusts me and humors me.

I like the part that says "evolution encourages homosexuality" (which is obviously much worse than gluttony, greed, and thinking bad things about other people. I mean, just look in the Bible . . wait, uh oh, only 6 passages about it. I mean, just look at its negative effect on society . . . shit, it's unclear if there are any negative effects at all . . . well, uh, JESUS HATES FAGS!)

To steal a quote, "Would a supreme being give us such large brains if he intended us to forgo their use?"  Apparently the people who made this pamphlet think so @.@

There are TONS of factors into teen suicide, there is no telling.

I love that quote. That's the funniest thing ever. He makes no attempt to connect the two.

You'd be surprised at the kids who would buy into that pamphlet.

"look! Something shiny!"
"ooh! Shiny!  :yay: "

This pamphlet makes ME want to commit suicide.  It's this kind of drivel that makes me want to scream when I read it.

He's right though, our education systems are failing the youth of America.  We're creating children that are gullible enough and/or don't have the tools to see this crap for what it is.

Quote from: "Herb Grossman"Evolutionists do not care about reality.  They simply stomp their feet, pound their fists, and howl, scowl, and growl till they get their way.

Why did I get the feeling I was reading one of SSY's signature quotes when I read this paragraph?

If I may say, as a Believer, this stuff embarrasses me. Particular the bit about cartoon characters. You must understand that Christians have been waging this war ad nauseum for quite sometime. In part, we (Christians) can thank Constantine for much of this. The First Century Christians took up no weapons against a particular portion of society based upon their beliefs. They preached only Yeshua (as strange as that may sound to you on its own). These pamphlets disturb me. I think the problem of suicide is heart-breaking enough and requires more than a trite paragraph about evolution and its effect on such a human tragedy. My stance on evolution is still under development (thanks to Francis Collins and those like him). See this from wikipedia about him:

Collins remains firm in his rejection of intelligent design, and for this reason was not asked to participate in the 2008 documentary Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, which tries, among other things, to draw a direct link between evolution and atheism. Walt Ruloff, a producer for the film, claimed that Collins was "toeing the party line" by rejecting intelligent design, which Collins called "just ludicrous."

But all that to say, I believe in Jehovah and Yeshua. His method of creation remains a mystery to me and most likely will for the remainder of years. But pamphlets like these, in my experience, don't change a person's heart in one direction or the other. They are, in short, divisive and ignorant.

/end rant.

John

I would love to collect that, but I restrict my menagerie to the turds I find buried among the many gems of this forum. I think it is most instructive to show what a fine selection of comedy I can dredge from such a small corner of the internet.

Just when I think I've seen the stupidest thing a creationist can come up with, there's always something even more stupid.  :brick:
