I've had these girls in the dorm right below mine come complain to me about noises they keep hearing from my dorm at night. They said it sounded like furniture was being moved and I haven't moved any of my furniture since the first week when I got here. But they keep insisting that it's coming from my room. My roommate sleeps before me so I try to be extra quiet. One of them just complained to me about 40 minutes ago and she wouldn't even stay to talk about it and acted a little bitchy. I honestly have no idea what the hell they're hearing and this is really starting to piss me off because I'm getting blamed for something I'm not doing. How shall I proceed in this predicament?

maybe she is not smart enough to figure out which room is above hers....another possibility is that the sound is traveling along the structure and is actually coming from a few rooms over.  It if is cold and you have gas heating; it could be the pipes.  I suggest reporting her complaint to whomever is in charge of the building operations before she reports you....that way they hear your concerns first.

Shrug your shoulders and tell her to buzz off.  If it's honest to gawd not you, there's nothing you can do.

I was so glad when I finally got out of dorms.   They blow - massively.

Never had a dorm. Always wanted to live in one, though.

Act frustrated (this should not be too hard), she sounds like she may have trouble understanding you, this should help get the message across to her.

Failing that, actually make loads of noise*

I wish I could afford to live in a dorm, that stuff is expensive.

It was cheaper for me to live in a apartment next to campus than be in the dorms.  I hated the dorms, I had more restrictions on my life there than I did when I lived at home with my dad.  Not to mention that I don't do well with roommates (unless they are a significant other).  Not to mention that they made us buy a meal ticket, barely gave us any access to a kitchen, and the food they served was junky....needless to say, I did not stay in the dorms after freshman year.  I thought about having my dad lie and say he was living in town so I could get an apartment sooner, but I didn't...I if I could do it over again I would have gotten my dad to lie to the school.

Well it's too late to pretend a Spanish Foreign exchange student. So that covers my area of expertise.

The food here is amazing and is ranked as one of the top places to dine for colleges. I really need to go work out otherwise I'll gain more than the freshman 15...

Uhh... I highly doubt that. Before the first complaint I don't ever think they had ever seen me or my roommate.

I'll be moving into a dorm in about two months. My parent's are sending me to military school. An all male boarding school

My grades in school are terrible, to put it lightly. They're hoping that military school will fix that. I can't say i don't understand where they're coming from, having a son who is borderline genius but has less than acceptable grades, i can understand.

well, if you fit the norm for borderline genius, your grades suck because you are bored.  How old are you? Can you convince them to let you try to jump a grade (or two) and maybe start college early?

I am sixteen and my reason for the low grades it that i am completely apathetic towards the subject. I really couldn't care less, i only go to school to see my friends anyway. I completely understand the importance and significance of getting a good education and how it can open all the opportunities in the world, but i just don't care.

Until recently, I called myself a nihilist. I thought there is no inherent meaning and no inherent value. I was right. There is no inherent meaning and no inherent value in nature. But so what? I am human and humans create their own meaning and their own value. One of the most important values for me is success versus failure or victory versus defeat. It is good to succeed. It is bad to fail. I don't think many humans will disagree.

When I was sixteen, I couldn't wait to leave home. I hated my situation. The popular kids at school made my life hell. The thing that got me through it was the certainty that some day I would destroy them. I did. They failed in life. I succeeded in life.

I don't know if you're borderline genius or not. My IQ test says I'm borderline genius and I think it's bullshit. I'm no Einstein.

Succeed. Not necessarily academically. Succeed somehow. Success requires action. You are the only person who can be responsible for your success. Your parents can send you to military school but in the end if it works you'll be the one responsible.

Also, it seems that most military schools won't accept your admission if you personally refuse to go. Military schools seem dumb to me. They aren't even run by the military. It's a bunch of adolescents wearing stupid custumes being forced to say "yes sir" to someone with no authority whatsoever.

That would be lame. Please take responsibility for your life before this happens =).

"Genius or near genius" is an IQ of over 140 or 150 depending on what you read. I got 144 last time I took one. I don't take it seriously. I know I'm smart but I think we should reserve the word genius for, well, geniuses =).

I wish I went to a military school. Push-ups, range time, drill and ceremony. Man I miss that. Why not make the best of it and enjoy the quasi-military life. You might make some friends and become a real badass at the same time. If not, we'll....nothing makes memories like being called a fag while you do push-ups in the mud for hours on end. Then when you collapse you get an earful of how worthless you are at life. Eventually you want to prove that asshole wrong. Then you become ARMY STRONG!!!

Ouch. At least the boarding school i went to had girls as well. I'm thankful for that.
