Title: Looking for Support on Facebook
Post by: Chimera on September 11, 2009, 11:46:32 PM
Okay, so today is the eighth anniversary of 9/11. I apparently made the "mistake" of posting the "Imagine No Religion" photo from the Richard Dawkins site on Facebook and then said that 9/11 was the result of religious craziness. Needless to say, my theist friends didn't care for that much (neither did my one atheist friend, either). My own sister called me a bigot. So...I'm just looking for more atheist friends to add because there is strength in numbers. If you would like to be my Facebook friend, you can find me here: http://www.facebook.com/that.tall.girl84. Please add a note saying you're from HAF. I appreciate your help.

I'm so glad to have more support on there. I almost feel like crying...damn hormones...lol.

But yeah, thanks to Whitney and Will for backing me up. I'm really grateful for that.

Bah.  As if I'd befriend an infidel!
We must destroy all opposition to Islam!

.....Nah, I just don't have a Facebook.

SOrry, I had to delete my FB account... was spending more time there than doing my studies.  Easy to ignore WoW because it's on a different computer.

I did have over 400 atheist friends, though.  Most I didn' tknow, but it was so cool to get their links and keep up on atheist-related matters.  GREAT group of people!  Once you get a few atheist friends, watch the "people you may know."  After a month or so, they were ALL atheists that were connected to me by another one.  I miss that.

I added everyone who sent me a friend request. Thanks again. :) I'm sure I'll need you all in the future, as these sorts of things seem to be happening on a weekly basis.

I have been thinking about how to come out of the closet on Facebook. There are so many friends I have there who have only known me as a christian for the last 18 years. Perhaps backing you up could be just the ticket. Besides, you are a northwesterner too, so there is a geographical kinship. lol

Sending a friends request...

If they are friends that you haven't talked to much in a while they probably won't care or say anything.  Even a guy I dated in high school has yet to comment about my posts that are anti-religious in nature and he is like a Jesus poster boy now and knows I use to be really into church.

Well, most of them are folks whom I have spent considerable time with in the past. We would all consider each other lifelong friends...even family. I would be very surprised if they didn't comment. Of course, they may be too speechless and utterly at a loss for words!

I will find out soon enough. :)

It took me some time to work up the nerve to make the change, but finally I realized there was no sense in hiding it anymore--if my friends could have "Christian" in their profile, I could have "Atheist" (although now I have Atheist/Pastafarian, hehe). Funny thing is, no one really noticed until I started posting atheist stuff on my wall. Most of my friends still don't bother me about it, which is nice.

May I ask what part of MT you're from? I have a lot of family over there. My dad was born in Miles City and raised in Butte.

Oh, I love Kalispell. Beautiful area. My church used to go camping on Flathead Lake in the summers.

I like the area. I'm not surprised your church group would come over here. Besides being beautiful, this area is jam-packed with churches. There are more church goers here than you can shake a stick at.

Spokane is a nice area as well, though. Most folks from here go there often for concerts, major airline flights, shopping or to see friends.

So, I accidently sent you a request from my wife's Facebook...sorry, mine is Cory Overby so if you see one from Catherine, that's was actually me, in the wrong account...sorry.  It was a long night last night   :headbang:
