Here's an article my friend showed me. This is part 2, as I can't find part 1 anywhere. Anyways, Otty Sanchez, the mother, decapitated her baby child, eat parts of the baby, and pleas that she didn't do it. It's all in the devils works.
This is exactly why I hate religion!!!
Nah. This is mental illness, not religion. She'd have identified her actions with something else she considered malevolent if she didn't have religious archetypes.
Schizophrenia isn't driven by outside influence, it's driven by difficulty (up to and including inability) in differentiating "internal" things like thought and imagination with "external" things. In very extreme cases like Ms. Sanchez's case, there simply is no way to differentiate between a passing thought and a commanding need.
The other scary thing about schizophrenia is that is not always apparent, even with extreme cases. Doubly so if they are on a good medication. Irony: It's a disease that can make you very unsure if you took your medication or not, even if you use a daily pill dispenser. From that spawns greater unpredictability.
Anyway, this is more about our pathetically weak health system than it is about religion.

Same thing.

I saw this on the local news after it went down. Psychosis is a helluva thing....usually people only do crazy stuff like that while on PCP or the like. And what is it with Texas mothers who kill their kids?
At the height of my PTSD problems I was psychotic. I had voices telling me to kill while at the same time I saw a baby crawling over the wall of my apartment. It was like listening to a radio show with instructions especially for me. I was convinced I was sharing my mind with a psychopath. The idea was quite real to me.
I did an experiment at the time. Every day when I woke up and before I went to bed I would record on a chart in my bathroom whether I was currently the "real me" or the "psychopath". I even reversed the headings on the table. I labelled them "real me" for "psychopath" and "weak me" for what the real me thought was real. I did that because I wanted the "psychopath me" to cooperate with the experiment.
My therapist finally managed to persuade me that "psychopath me" wasn't actually psychopathic because "he" still felt empathy. Actually that's probably not what she meant but that's how I saw it. I'm really confused right now about which things I should be quoting. Lol. But anyway psychosis and in my case dissociation are strange and they do happen to people.
I'm fine now. Everyone, don't kill babies =).
Quote from: "AlP"Everyone, don't kill babies =).
I agree. I'm gonna take a stand, and say that baby-killing is wrong.
As much as I can't stand religion, I agree that this sounds more like a mental illness thing, and if the mother wasn't religious, she'd have done it anyway.

Killing babies is wrong. And bad. There should be a new, stronger word for killing babies. Like badwrong, or badong. Yes, killing babies is badong. From this moment, I will stand for the opposite of killing babies: gnodab.
I agree. It is a mental illness. However, something escapes me.
Why is the same logic not applied to someone who claims to speak with God? Or Jesus? Well obviously there is the tragic loss of life that separates the two. Even so, you will hear the majority say that there is a mental problem, both believers and non-believers. Why would a believer say that? If you are truly a believer, would you not be inclined to see that someone is clearly speaking with Satan? Or is being guided by Satan to do this? Makes no sense to me.
Yes, this is a very horrible story. It makes me sick how someone could be so vicious and cruel, especially to an innocent baby. They should hang that lady. IMO. And it's ashame God allows this to happen. But one thing we don't understand is, once that baby leaves this earthly life. He/She is blessed in his name forever, and ever. Life does not stop on earth. A Christian believes once we die, we enter into a new life in Christ. That little child is being held in the arms of God Almighty.

That little baby is missing out on a full life because some nutjob religious wacko decided to end it. That little baby is rotting in a pine box somewhere. That little baby is a victim of God.

Jesus Christ said "You must become pure as an innocent child before you can walk into the Kingdom of God".
That baby is in the arms of God right now. While the mother is left behind to realize what she has done to her baby. God will torment her forever. Now, maybe you understand why God formed Hell. It's for people that do stuff like this. And out of all things, In the name of Satan.

Does every one of your posts start with some non-sequitor Jesus quote?
That baby is in nobody's arms right now. It feels good to think that it's in heaven, making goo-goo faces with the lord, but it's not. It's dead. Period.
God didn't make hell. We did, and it's all around us. What hath your people wrought? Think about this: no religion, no God; no God, no devil; no devil, no dead baby. Sounds like a pretty nice deal to me.
Also, listen to
Tanker or I
will start ridiculing you with pop culture and animated GIFs, do not test me on that, sir.

My quotes fit the argument.

You have zero proof of that statement. Retract, or this conversation is discontinued.

Hell is real. It does exist. It will be for those who murder, and do not ask Christ for forgiveness. Or an atheist who does not accept Jesus into their life before they die.
I require non biblical tangible evidence of your statements
Unless we are specificly discusing a bible verse they are not a valide argument for any discussion.
Quote from: "IBelieveInHymn"My quotes fit the argument.
No, your quotes are vaguely related to the topic. They don't fit any argument because there is no argument for them to fit.
QuoteYou have zero proof of that statement.
I have exactly as much proof as you had when you made your statement.

Really. Well, jeeze, after a water-tight argument like that I have no option but to convert and ask the lord for forgiveness! Does it have to be written on letterhead or will a simple email work? Should I address it to Jesus, Yeshua, or just to Mr. Christ?

But you don't understand something. Being an atheist leaves too much room for error. If an atheist cannot prove a negative- that means God can be proven.
QuotePromise?
With sugar on top. :)
Restated: Provide non biblical tangible evidence.
I didn't make this thread on the intentions of starting a "God is real, not real," thread, just so you know.
To: IBelieveInHymn: Anyways, you're saying what Curio said has no valid proof, but what about you? If you really believe a man once split the seas, lived in a fishes stomach for 3 days, or that every species of animals on this Earth was able to be fitted on a single boat, built by man, then I feel really bad for you.

Jesus accepts knee-mail. :hail:
Quote from: "IBelieveInHymn"I thought the OP was arguing that religion is evil. So I rebutted. :brick:
Quote from: "Reginus"A bible quote does not count as a rebut if the OP is an atheist
Yes, it does, but only if the subject at hand has something to do with the dogma of Christianity.

Knee-mail!! I get it... You sly boots.
Did you copy that off of the billboard of your local First Baptist Church. I see these kind of goofy phrases on one by my house all the time.
