Title: Salvation at the end of a television show
Post by: Tom62 on July 01, 2009, 06:10:06 AM
Saw this amazing news on Twitter today.

QuoteJust when one thought TV-shows could not get more outrageous, Kanal T comes up with the idea to make an imam, a priest, a rabbi and a Buddhist monk try to convert 10 atheists. While some fear the program could create problems, a sociologist says this just shows the yearning to learn more about religions

A new show set to grace Turkish television screens will see a Muslim imam, a Christian priest, a Jewish rabbi and a Buddhist monk competing to turn 10 unbelievers into devotees of their own faith each week...

I don't get why they would have a buddhist monk. Buddhism is more of a philosiphy then a religion and is not as rigid and dogmatic as the abahamic religions they are also hosting. I would think a better choice for the token non-judeo/christian religion would be Hindoism. Heck can't you be both an atheist and a buddhist? Atheism is not a disbelif of all supernatural events just the non belief in gods. Just doesn't really add up for me.

Thats what I'm saying it just doesn't make sense to me. About the best I would think they could accomplish would be to scare the Atheists into behaving better for fear of khamic retirbution. But thats still not really stoping them from being atheists just making them ...non-imperilists...not grounded in logic... rationally impeded... I don't know, I just don't get their inclussion in the show.

I think the show would be much more interesting if they tried to convert each others' followers -- interesting and violent.

I say an advert for that show. It seems quite interesting.
