I just wanted to introduce myself, and say how glad I am to have found an active atheist forum. I'm looking forward to the discussion, and hopefully the chance to just "hang out" with like-minded people.
My name is Michael, I'm happily married, with an awesome little boy. I like chess, reading, writing, old-time radio shows... and just hanging out with my family.
I look forward to "meeting" all of you!
Hi Michael,
Old time radio? We'll get along just fine... Welcome!

Welcome to the ironically named "One Who Is Closest To God".
Chess huh I like you already, welcome to the forum I hope for many splendid conversations.//
Hi michael, welcome to HAF.
Thanks for the welcome, guys.
Joe, you're into old-time radio, too? And if anyone wants to play chess, let me know... I play at chess.com.
Question, my Iowan friend.
Now that gay marriage is legal in Iowa, has your marriage felt like it means less?
Have you been compelled to marry someone of the same sex now that the opportunity has presented himself?
Has sex with ducks become rampant in the streets?
I ask this because I need someone in Iowa to confirm with me that all that Yes on 8 bullshit was wrong, so that when I talk to idiots who think it was the best thing since sliced bread I can tell them I know an Iowan who hasn't had the earth split open under them.
I am god damned ashamed to be a Californian right now -- I live in a state where we (on referendum, no less) decided that farm animals needed more rights while gays didn't.
Welcome to the forum, Michael. Looks like you're in good company here.
Hi michael, welcome to the forum. I look forward to your posts.
Iowa? People live there? j/k...welcome aboard.
Welcome from Oregon! Hubby is from Cleveland and that's the farthest east I've been in the past 36 years.

Have fun here!

Hey remember, James T. Kirk is... er,
will be from Iowa!
Hi thiolsulfate -- yeah, Danielle and I were just saying to each other that because gay marriage is now legal here, we need to dissolve our marriage of 13 years and find someone of the same sex to marry! I don't want to, but I just feel compelled to because of the temptation! LOL
My home backs up to a large pond and woods, and it has a lot of ducks. Things seem to be OK. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Seriously, most of the time I don't even think about it, and no one I know has even mentioned it. It's a non-issue, unless you are gay or a "holier-than-thou" Christian Republican. So you can tell all those idiots that life continues on here in Iowa the same as it always has.
I must say I'm pretty proud of my state for this.
