Hello to all. I don't think this thread has been created yet, but I was wondering how you came up with your name? I'm sure it'll be interesting to hear how and why you chose them, especially Curiosityandthecat. For some reason, I just love that name. =)
Any who, let's get this topic started.
NaturalCalamity is a japanese band that I absolutely love. I've tried searching for any info on them like wikipedia, but there are none. They're from Japan and their music is timeless. A friend of mine, who used to live in Japan, moved to California and let me borrow their CD's one day, and I fell in love. If you ever get a chance to listen to them, do it. Oh yeah, just letting you all know, they sing in English, not Japanese. Here is a song I found on youtube by NaturalCalamity. Please listen to it, it's a gorgeous song. It makes me want to fly in outer space whenever I'm listening to this song.

Your turn!
My first screen name here was Willravel, Will being my first name and Ravel referencing Maurice Ravel, my favorite composer.
Now it's just Will. Being my first name.
I like this topic already. Mine is from when I was more of an optimist. It's about seeing the world from a more sunny point of view (blue sky).
Hey, I learned another new thing today. I wondered where the "Ravel" came from in Will's name before.
Mine is from a John Wayne movie......
......no, I'm lying.
It's the first three letters of my last name, and it's been my nickname my whole life, pronounced "Mi-KYOO".
Boring, but it works.
Mine has been the name i've used for online games since 2003. There was no reason for me to choose it other than i like how it sounds. I was told recently that 'Karadan' is a planet in the book, Dune.
Mine comes from, what my son says, a total lack of creativity. It's a variation of my first and last name
A few years back I was setting up an online poker account to play against my older brother with. His name is Mike. I thought it would be funny to make my screen name Ihateyoumike, and he thinks it's pretty funny too. I've used it online ever since.
Heh, I'm with VanReal on this one. My real name is "Steve". I figured it was too common, so I used the first letter of my last name, "S", at the end. Bingo, "SteveS". Not terribly creative......but at least it is short and easy to type/remember!

Mine use to be "LaetusAtheos" which was what I figured out to be the Latin translation for Happy Athiest. But, when Will switched to his real name, I thought it was a good idea and changed mine too.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE cemeteries.
Initials.
The first part of my username, gwyn, is the name that I identify myself as and what I will eventually legally change my name to. I prefer it over my male name because Gwyn is unisex and my gender identity is male/female. The 428 part is simply my birthday; April 28.
Mine has a few explanations. When I first chose it, for another forum, I was trying to think up something that sounded mysterious and mythical. I've had a lifelong interest in mythology, particularly from Greece. I also saw a Discovery Channel show about chimerism once and it was pretty interesting...so it ties in with my interests in science as well. I guess you could go deeper and say it has something to do with my still being "in the closet" as an atheist or something...lol.
Mine is a nod to my time spent as a squid in the Navy.
Mine is too easy to guess. Firstname + the year that I was born.
My name and the first letters of my surame
evripidou
Usually I go with Poseidon Simons, but thats my "artistic" name. Plus, its a male name so here I justw anted to use my real idendity
Well, guyinagorillasuit and jehovaswaitress were both taken, so I went with the obvious choice,
JoeActor
(plus it's my web site)
I was a bike messenger in San Francisco for the better part of two decades, and rode many bicycles over those years. Each of them had a name: Rosinante, Celestial Doggy, Mescalito, etc., etc. (It was common to name our bikes back then, I don't know if that's still the case.) Recusant was the name of the last bike I rode for a living, and later, when I started playing Go online (http://www.gokgs.com/), I chose it as my online handle. I've used it ever since.
Jolly Sapper, a modification of "Jolly Roger" and a name for my previous occupation in the Army.

I always thought it was a play on "have *blank,* will travel." have *blank,* will ravel. thought you were comenting on the human condition there.
this is me, always reading too much into everything.

I had the same thought when I first saw his name.
My name is Michael
When I was a child and Dad was annoyed with me, he put on his really gruff voice and yelled out (in his strong Australian accent) "Moigle...Stop that!"

Love it!
I'm big on accents, and I can HEAR that one... funny!

12 is from my day of birth and atheist is, well obviously because i'm an atheist
It's from another forum and that one came from a modification of a previous name which was just a bunch of abbreviations. I'm not sure what a Twiddler is though, I think its some kind of remote or something...
Mine is just the diminutive of my first name, not terribly original. And I happened to have the caps lock on when I joined and decided I liked the big, bold egotistical effect. Plus it makes it look like an acronym which is fun 'cause the most similar one I can think of to it is ALARA, which is darkly amusing to me when I get depressed and toxic.
I keep thinking of HAL when I see you!
WW2, Most interesting thing I've ever known t have happened.
I figured my actual name was abnormal enough to use. Plus I knew I would be less likely to forget my username.
Um... at the the time I was Tanker and not feeling terribly creative. I loved being a Tanker I just wasen't so fond of my employer.
This is entertaining, especially comparing my guesses about our names to the real explanations. My nickname has been Sally a long time. When I first started commenting online, on a liberal blog, I explained there that as a liberal native Texan, I must be of a mutant strain. A little influenced by the Superior Mutants for Bob Subgeni too. And I really do look like Emma Goldman 'cause I'm all middle-aged.
Shortly after we got married, the hubby and I were trolling leather shops in San Francisco. By the register was this vase with gorgeous red leather roses on long metal stems wrapped in dark green leather with a few green leather leaves. I feel instantly in love with it so Joe bought one for me. Roses are my favorite flower, I've got a leather fetish, and red is my favorite color. The 3/28 is my birthday.

I've used this name online for 14 years.
because my name is anthony and I'm a musician. Plus I won Prolobe with this name!
