Title: Biblical Proof The God Does Not Exist
Post by: Ghost147 on February 11, 2009, 04:40:46 AM
Well. A friend of mind has found a way to disprove a Christian's portrayal of god using their own "words from god", the Bible. I, as well as many other atheists or agnostics out there have already thought about it in this fashion, but simply did not comment about it (some of us at least).

An fairly easy way to stump the converted.

Here's a simple little video that should explain everything. please, tell us what you think.

I thought the video went a little bit quickly for anyone who might be trying to process what it had to say.  Of course, I also didn't have the volume on and was therefore just reading.

Btw, here's a couple web pages that covers issues you brought up in the vid:
http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/free- ... knowledge/ (http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/free-will-foreknowledge/)
http://www.iep.utm.edu/f/foreknow.htm (http://www.iep.utm.edu/f/foreknow.htm)

Theists who understand this problem have a "fix"...that's why so many claim that God is outside of time.  Their claim is that by being "outside of time" (whatever that really means), God is able to see past present and future at the same time.

There are also other Christians who will argue that god's foreknowledge is limited to that which can be known.  This would basically mean that God knows all future possible outcomes given the events leading up to this  moment but does not know exactly what will happen.  Christians who make this argument will also claim that God interacts on occasion in order to make sure his plans are carried out...otherwise they fall into a trap of God not being able to make plans (which are necessary for any foretold prophecies to unfold).

Anyway, it's a good video but I'm not sure if it would be able to silence the Christians since similar approaches have not been effective yet either.

Its a good video, it shows the theists that i showed it to that even 'Gods word' has its inconstancies making them think twice before preaching it as truth to the world. I also (as Whitney said) found that a couple of bible bashers state it as fabrication using incomplete parts of the bible to twist its meaning  :|

I love christians cherry picking the bible, anything that sounds plausible/compelling/difficult to imediatley disprove is the inerrant word of the almighty, but any bits exposed as bullshit by our modern understanding of the world are either allegorical or mistranslated.

Nice and quick summary of exactly why it is moot to even discuss the Bible to begin with.
