I'm a longtime anime and manga fan, for sure. Unfortunately, I'm an old-timer in the manga and anime world. the stuff I grew up with is practically absent from todays otaku people.
For example: I grew up with Ranma 1/2, Robotech, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Hack//Sign. I love these classic anime's and others, as they are a real part of my childhood. Yet, the new otakus have never heard of these(except maybe Hack//Sign, for the older newer ones.

) manga and anime.
Now, I'm not completely behind the curve. When I was 14 years old, I went to a barnes and noble booksellers and found an interesting manga that really caught my eye. I bought it, and was completely hooked on the story. that manga was naruto. And here's what I hate about it: I picked up naruto a good
4 years before anyone had ever heard of it in the states. I picked it up with the very first book to be realeased. But when the show came on on toonami, everything went straight to hell. Not only did toonami mangle the story, and include sappy "morals" in it's shows, but whenever I mentioned naruto to anyone, they assumed
that I was with all the other drooling idiots that learned about naruto through toonami. That's more than I can take. I hate naruto for what it's become. I only wish I could regain my love for it.
Ugh, if I had a dime for each time I "knew them when"...
Lol. I see google adsense is working. Naruto Naruto Naruto!
