Title: Congratulations to President Elect Obama
Post by: McQ on November 05, 2008, 05:15:12 AM
It was an exciting election this year and now it's over and the U.S. can move forward and get on track economically and hopefully, move forward with policies that will bring respect and admiration from the other countries of the world.

I thought John McCain's concession speech was first class, even though his supporters acted like pouting children at times.

Congratulations to our 44th President, Barack Obama!

Not only did Obama win, but he has a substantial mandate. And the Democrats have the House and Senate in stronger numbers.

Time to get to work.

I'm guardedly optomistic.  I'm tickled that Obama won... but we took a number of Dem seats 2 years ago and not much was changed, despite promises made.

But for now, I'm satisfied.  :D

And yes, McCain showed some class (finally) with his concession speech.  I was mightily impressed he did so early.  And Palin was uncharacteristically silent.

Yes, the Republican supporters are dangerous... I continue to fear for Obama's safety.

Yes, I am one happy atheist tonight! I opened my front door as soon as the western states pushed Obama over the magic 270 electoral votes and let out a great whoop of joy! I am hopeful that he will, at the very least, restore our good image as a nation. I am hoping that when I go visit my bro in Germany, I will no longer have to pretend to be Canadian. Thank the non-existent GODS we will not see Palin set foot in the White House, freaky psycho bitch she is! :banna:

Taking seats is a bit different from taking executive control of the most powerful country in the world. Obama is not going to be a savior (incidentally, I can't believe the Obama  world has not "corrected" in the Microsoft dictionary yet) but he will do more than anyone about restoring our position in the rest of the world.

Congratulations with electing the first colored president in history of the USA.

Will he live up to expectations? Time will tell. But somehow I think that he actually will try.

I am so gosh darned happy!!! Never has world opinion for the USA changed so dramatically than over the last 24 hours.
Well done you guys. It was amazing to see so many people out voting.

I'm so happy Palin is no where near the White house now.

i was so damn happy too until i found out that prop 8 passed. Ugh. I'm pansexual and marriage just seems illogical to me (long story on my opinion on that one) but it pisses me off. WBC must be having a fricken holiday.

oh well... It'll be taken care of with the new Democrats in charge. :/

Same here but, he was the better choice, by far. We'll see what happens.

I was very happy as well.  Obama seems very intelligent and a good representative for the US abroad.  I also thought that McCain's concession speech showed a great deal of class and what was needed to move forward.  I hope now that McCain can go back to being what he was prior to when he began positioning himself to run for office.  I lost all interest in him when he pandered to the religious base of the Republican party.

I hope Obama can live up to my expectations and get things done.  And let's hope he doesn't have any wild oats to sew or an agenda to overthrow a leader who said bad things about his dad like the last few Presidents did.

I'm glad it is all over,  after too many months of over exposure on the European media. Even our own elections don't get that much attention. Anyway, I'm glad that Obama won and with me 90% of the Dutch and 85% of the German population.

Although I like many of his ideas...that is definately not one of them.  I plan on writing a letter to him when he gets to that point.  Not that he'll read it, but someone on his staff will.
