I'm about to go to bed - not too interesting though.  I have a thesis committee meeting in the morning to flesh out my experimental methodology...fun stuff.

Anything of interest, eh..?

Right now, I'm browsing Happy Atheist Forum. Soon, I'll be watching National Geographic Channel.

Waiting on the girlfriend's advisor to return a reviewed copy of her thesis so we can edit it again and she can graduate.

Her advisor is being difficult, though.

Recently I can be found writing a novel, fixing up my new car, seeking out information about attending Boalt Law School, establishing a website that ships games to deployed troops, posting on any one of a few dozen forums, cataloging my growing library, exercising (weights and hiking), practicing my yoga, working for a non-profit that helps to feed and clothe people in need, and sneezing (fall allergies).

That's a mighty open ended question you've got there.

Back to the thread. I'm currently working very late in the evening on my private software project. It should be finished early next month, at least that is what I promised to the users. Time is running out quickly though, because next week I'll be on a one and half week vacation in the "promised" land (USA).

umm... I took the opportunity (sunny, warm, slight breeze) to turn the rake up the grass that I mowed yesterday morning with my scythe.  ummm... Broke out my old PS 1 a week ago, and have been replaying an old game.  OH.. I ate a bowl of soup.

Besides posting here, this evening I will be reading some articles, attempting to construct an experimental timeline for my procedure - gotta fit a lot of stuff into 60 minutes or less and all that per person in my study - 50 people x 60 minute sessions = a lot of damn time Squid will be spending in the psychophysiology lab.

So yeah, that's the rest of my day and stuff.

What's your GF going for?  I'm working on my M.A. in health psych and doing my thesis on emotional distraction, stress, salivary cortisol and smoking cravings.

She's getting her M.Ed in Cultural Studies in Education. Her thesis is on the impact intercultural couples' differing beliefs in parenting style, behavior modification, etc., can have on the education and academic performance of their bicultural children, specifically involving couples consisting of one Asian and one Caucasian.

All I do is work, go home, check the forum, eat dinner, play on internet/watch tv, then go to bed to start the whole process over again.

I'm thinking of starting to learn how to play the guitar again...I started learning in high school but never really followed through.

Cool.  Cultural diversity and just about anything to do with it is a hot topic in education and probably will be for some time to come.  She chose an excellent topic.

Cool idea for a thread. I was out biking around town. Earlier today I found this rock...

Close up on most visible fossil

If anyone's interested in fossils. I think it's a Favistella but I could be wrong. When I'm not biking I also enjoy playing guitar... http://artists.ultimate-guitar.com/mindsobscure/

I'm working full time as a software developer in one of the largest travel organizations in the world. Pays pretty well, but quite often the work is pretty boring (like maintaining old legacy systems and providing 2nd level support). The work I do at home on my private software project is far more interesting. That does however means that on most workdays I'm sitting quite often from 7 AM until 11 PM behind a computer with the occasional breaks for household tasks, watching the news, shopping and eating.  Only on Monday evening and in the weekends I do things that are better for the body and soul, like going out for a swim, treat myself on a full body massage, riding my bike, reading books or magazines, visiting friends, going out, etc.

I'm spending a couple days off in Ithaca, NY with my girlfriend and her family.  Then, I have to tell my company I am quitting because I got a new job driving locally!  No more over-the-road for this guy.

Thanks! For equipment I used a Fender FM 100H amp and played a BC Rich Exclusive guitar. For drums I used the trial version of Beatcraft and for recording I used Adobe Audition... the trail version as well.  Hahah! I just recorded everything direct to my computer. Both my trials are expired now so I just use Drumsite and Audacity.

I've recently started getting back into playing more and want to start writing some new material.  I've been using my Line6 GuitarPort but I also have GuitarRig.  For recording quick ideas I use Audacity but if I want something that sounds decent I have to go with the RiffTracker that the Line6 came with.  It has this instant drummer thing but it's very limited.  I picked up Cakewalk's GuitarTracks Pro but I don't remember where I put it.  I've been wanting to find something that provdies some decent drum tracks since I don't have a drummer to do that for me.  I think my father has a version Audition, I'll have to check it out.
