Tough work. I was on a fire crew many moons ago. For a fire in the general area of Palm Springs we were transported via helicopter but definitely no rappelling out of the thing. It was a big old hog of a helicopter; as I recall about ten of us fit in its fairly capacious belly.

very hard work, and not paid very well either. but she travels, she's outdoors in the mountains and deserts every day, and so far she has no strings in her life to pin her down.
i told all my kids as they were growing up that if they ever had a chance to do something interesting and exotic, whether is was a job, or travel, or a risky but interesting adventure of any kind, to do it. there's plenty of time to be responsible later on.
