Title: G'Day from a HAF neophyte
Post by: Vocaloldfart on May 14, 2025, 11:29:37 AM
I have been with other forums, each bewildering in the beginning. I beg your patience until I find my wings.

I cannot remember a time when when I was not a atheist/ humanist/ agnostic.
Despite the best efforts of my mother to get me to attend church,
I always managed to depart the building soon after admiring the pictures/ stained glass and the impressive stage and furniture.
In the front door, exit via the side door.

Religious instruction in primary school was for me fun , not so for the priest, I asked awkward questions which he was at pains to answer, if and when he could.
In  high school, I read the Bibles, Avesta, Taoism , Zoroastrianism, Tanakh and the  Qur'an.
At 72 I still ask awkward questions and seek logical verifiable answers to questions pertaining to our human condition.

As is my nature, especially in these turbulent times, to enjoy and promote satire. Laughing has definite proven health benefits.
I enjoy health, happiness( mostly) though unfortunately not wealth which has always been berthed in another port, never mine!

Hello, welcome.

I have a recollection of a 1970s New South Wales public high school (public = public here) compulsory scripture class, so he drowned everyone, that's OK?
So I'm sent out to stand in the hallway.
The history master asks me why I'm there.
I tell him and he nods, walks off and spares me a whacking.
I think an 1870s master would have done a much better job, whacked me into submission and the empire would still be and the world wouldn't have gone to the dogs.

No amount of whacking would ever work on me. I was born recalcitrant

Hello and welcome to HAF, Vocaloldfart. In the realm of the human condition, logical verifiable answers may useful for personal understanding but it seems they're nearly irrelevant when it comes to the behavior of the species as a species. I think the search for such answers is commendable nonetheless.

I hope you enjoy your time reading and posting here.

I tend to agree with you, as a species, logic and verifiable answers seem to be an oxymoron in these exciting times we live in.
I revere curiosity above all as facts( knowledge) is never heavy but does  carry a lot of weight.
