It's soon to be that time of the year again, time for the Man in Red to come Ho Ho Ho'ing down the chimney. Time to bring out the pagan symbols and gifts! And for some of us, time to pretend like it snows in the southern hemisphere in December...
*clears throat*
:blahblah:
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh,
Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way,
Oh what fun it is to ride
In a one-horse open sleigh.
Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
Through the fields we go
Laughing all the way.
Bells on bob-tail ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight.

Not a thing!
OK, it's Hawaii and not California, but it's tropically close!
Aussie Jingle Bells
Dashing through the bush,
in a rusty Holden Ute,
Kicking up the dust,
esky in the boot,
Kelpie by my side,
singing Christmas songs,
It's Summer time and I am in
my singlet, shorts and thongs
.
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia
on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute.
.
Engine's getting hot;
we dodge the kangaroos,
The swaggie climbs aboard,
he is welcome too.
All the family's there,
sitting by the pool,
Christmas Day the Aussie way,
by the barbecue.
.
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia
on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,
Oh what fun it is to ride in a rusty Holden Ute.
.
Come the afternoon,
Grandpa has a doze,
The kids and Uncle Bruce,
are swimming in their clothes.
The time comes 'round to go,
we take the family snap,
Pack the car and all shoot through,
before the washing up.
.
Oh! Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way,
Christmas in Australia
on a scorching summers day, Hey!
Jingle bells, jingle bells, Christmas time is beaut!,

Got to love Tom Lehrer! :D
I've decided what I want for Christmas. Holidays. :P
^ Going to watch that later. It's midnight and I can't remember where I put my headphones. :P

No that was last nights dream.
I plan on spending Christmas alone, eating pizza half-naked in the couch in front of my Xbox, and the people all be like "Oh noes! That sounds terrible! Won't you come over to us and do Christmas stuff in stead?!" Look, thank you for the sentiment - it is sincerely appreciated, but what exactly do you think it is I'm trying to avoid by spending the holidays with muh video games? Doing the "Christmas stuff," that's what. It just does. Not. Interest. Me. Invite me to quarrel loudly over politics or watch a good (As opposed to some family-friendly Christmas- ) movie or some such, and I'm there. Holiday cheer and eating dinner at weird times and small children everywhere... I'd rather not.
This is probably not the first time I'm ranting about this here, as I have tried "just doing me" for the holidays before, with much similar reaction from the people around me. Yes, it's sad when someone who is lonely and does not have real options is all alone and depressed for Christmas. I am not that person. MY choice. I want a holiday with lots of silence, zero stress and a bit of junk food. GO AWAY, well-meaning family, friends, colleagues, sex partners and others who seem to think that they are the only ones I could have made plans with, had I wanted to. >:(
Ok, that's probably a little un-fair on those trying to be good without taking different priorities into consideration, but... It's just so damned therapeutic to rant about it every now and then.

You know, that doesn't sound like a bad way to spend the holiday. I've been postponing playing video games until next Saturday when I'm officially on holiday, and I am looking forward to it.

Hah!
+11 for Tom Lehrer!!!
... did you know Jingle Bells was written as a Thanksgiving song?

A Zelda game: Ocarina of Time. I got that and a new Nintendo 3DS and am looking forward to unboxing the console. Come Saturday I'll be
trying to figure the game out without having to resort to youtube tutorials playing. :tellmemore:
I love the seasonal holiday, getting together with family and friends, eating and drinking too much and all that. I especially look forward to the grandkids, now I have some. However, I totally respect your position Asmo, if you want to be alone, then be alone! Good for you, that you know what you want! I spend a great deal of my time on my own and I like it and do not feel lonely. I don't need rescuing from my self and I think neither do you. Here's to those that enjoy their own company!
I raise my cup to you Bluenose. I too am comfortable with aloneness. I like other people and admire the good ones and the various talents that they display. I can get along very well when I am alone with nature, or God (if he is out there) or a good book, some classical music, or sailing my boat on a quiet day while admiring the beautiful natural things that are so easy to see.
I don't mind peace and quiet, especially when I could do without some family members. There is a general feeling of obligation to give presents and see people during times like X-mas you otherwise wouldn't see. ::)
I think I'll seclude myself in a room somewhere, play games and when approached I will preach Asmoism to unwanted company. :blahblah:
I was Santa at work today, passing out candy and wishing Merry Christmas. Then I informed everyone one that I was relocating to the South Pole because Global Warming was destroying my habitat. At least in Antarctica there is a continental mass under the ice. But I'm going to miss eating the polar bears and arctic foxes - may be hard to get used to penguins.

Facial ornamentation is all the rage now Sandy. Posers have been doing the mustaxche thing for eons. I think that they are disgusting, especially when they get all gunked uo with food like cake icing or pizza sauce.
Full facial hair is a whole other deal. I have not gotten the message about the stubble look of the men who are now regarded by so many women as hunks. I really think that the men are too lazy or too cheap to shave their mugs..They have managed to beguile their lovely wives or girlfriends. In defense of the men, it is true that razor blades have become scandalously expensive these days.
Then there is the current fashion of wearing shiny brown shoes with a navy, black, or dark grey suit. Whothefuck in the fashion world decreed that that was to be the correct dress for business attire?

My problem is that some people just do not look good with mustaches, and sadly Benedict is one of them. He looks like a used car salesman
at best, and I sincerely hope it's just for a role.

Nice! I haven't played too many Zelda games, but been wanting to enter that franchise for years now... Maybe I shall.
Before that though, I have a few gaming projects of my own to attend to. I've finally un-packed my copy of Pillars of Eternity, I want to build a new vault in Fallout 4, and despite having finished Red Dead Redemption 2 and not being overly impressed with the game, there are some things there I still want to do. That one is on a bit of a cooldown period, however, as I found it tedious past a certain point.
I wear a full beard for two reasons. First, I have extremely sensitive skin that doesn't respond well to a razor. Shaving leaves me broken out in hives no matter what I use to shave with. The second reason is that I have some scarring on my face that I would rather not put on display. Most folks think my beard suits me but that might be because so few people have actually seen my face.
Beards are more than practical for people whose face is not as pretty as the fashionistas would have it.
My all long time best friend has had a nicely groomed beard for all the years that I have known him. He has a facial defect that is a receding lower jaw. The beard mitigates the unusual skull structure very well.
My puzzlement is about the devilishly handsome males who grow the ten day stubble on their faces. Damn I'd have thought that the handsome guys would want to display their fortunate facial characteristics in all their glorious cleanness. But Nooo. Fashion dictates the "look" that one must display if he is to ............well never mind I was thinking of the prospect of one night stands....dirty old man that I am.
There is a chap I work with who grows a perfect 'fashion beard'. He hates it!!! You just can't please some people.
Working half a day today, then off until Jan. 2. Christmas dinner tomorrow at my house with kids and grandkids, then off to Durango, Colorado for 4 nights. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
