The first thing I thought when I saw #7 is that someone had strung up a bunch of those googly eyeballs.
:computerwave: Question:
How many can we vote for?
They're all great!
Never mind. I just saw the four. :-[

I just read this post :-[
I love your pictures! Great interpretations of the subject matter!
Some really, really nice pictures here, going to make me feel guilty if I just vote for mine...guess I need to be impartial. ::)
Interesting photos!

I particularly like the interpretation of #16 -- did not even think of that one.

Oh, normally the poll indicates which ones have received votes. These all look like zero votes so far. Never mind, I didn't realize one needed to vote first to see the other results.
My bad, carry on...
Wow a tie

BUT WHY SARDINES!?
Why not? It is a row of sardines.

Well, it is a pretty can -- drawings of birds, fish, nice shades of green . . .

I do wonder if the sardines themselves are any good, certainly not a brand I've ate before...but the cans look nice.
Just two days to vote!
And the winner is:-
Number 3

Congratulations!
Congratulations Recusant very well done! I voted for both of these, and simply love your picture of the ruins, you took that from almost the perfect angle the way the arches diminish over the doorway in the background.
The art ware in the 2nd one reminds of a local artist here in Michigan, and we actually own a couple pieces, and I would share, but they are put away for the moment (Out of season, glass pumpkins with long, twirly stems and vines.
Anyway I liked all of the pictures, and would say this was one of the more interesting of the photo challenges here at HAF, good job picking out the challenge topic Tank, and well done to all who submitted pictures.

I was a bit worried that nobody would take the challenge! It did turn out to get some good entries.
Where were the arches Recusant?
Yes, good one Recusant! Lots of old ruins round here of course - should have thought of those.
Loved the red rose as well, Tank.
Now, at last, Arturo's vibrant query about the sardines can be answered! Tut, no-one over there reading minor American literary classics? I will let the Wiki tell all . . .
QuoteCannery Row is a novel by American author John Steinbeck, published in 1945. It is set during the Great Depression in Monterey, California, on a street lined with sardine canneries that is known as Cannery Row. The story revolves around the people living there: Lee Chong, the local grocer; Doc, a marine biologist; and Mack, the leader of a group of derelicts.
The tombstones are, of course, "
Death Row" and pictures of a couple having a shouting match (in the centre of town), in a line, are a "
Row row".

Way too intellectual for me, esp. first thing in the morning.

I loved that.
Father Bruno, what on Earth is #7? I know it's not googly eyes, but what the hell?
Congratulations, Recusant!
Congrats, Recusant!

Thank you for your work running this fine photo challenge,
Tank. :)
The arches are in the ruins of Abbaye Saint-Mathieu de Fine-Terre at Plougonvelin in Finistère, Brittany, France. My favorite kind of church!
The others--glasswork by Chihuly from the Bridge of Glass at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, Washington, and some of the thousands of menhirs at the Alignements de Carnac, in Brittany again.
Thank you as well to
Father Bruno,
Gloucester,
Magdalena, and
xSilverPhinx, as well as everybody who contributed and voted. :boaterhat:
Now to come up with a theme for the next photo challenge. I'm open to suggestions. :D

What about a colour theme e.g. red or blue etc.
Curves?
Angles?
Edible?
Transparent?
Fits in a matchbox?
Soft?
Hard?
Metal?
Plastic?
People?
Holidays?
That is a good photo. Well done, Recusant. It would be nice to see some more photos from that set.

Father Bruno, what on Earth is #7? I know it's not googly eyes, but what the hell?
I took that on my recent trip to Honduras, it's a light fixture/chandeler made out of natural shells/husks...it was at the dining hall at the Indura Resort.

My second guess was some kind of lighting fixture, but I just couldn't tell.
