I'm a strongly militant atheist and have been for over forty years. I live in Herefordshire, England which is a sleepy, rural area but crawling with elderly churchgoers.
I'm not sure about this avatar [Jebus carrying large rifle]. I think it's fun and says a lot about what religion does for society. On the other hand, could people take it to mean 'militant fundie'? Any opinions gratefully received.

Hello! While I'm not sure what it says about society, I think it says a lot about religion.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for letting us know about you. Although I'm not a militant atheist, I can understand why some people are. But as the name of the forum says, we do try (and some are better at this than others) to be a pretty happy group. Lots of different beliefs here from weak atheism, to agnostic, to apatheist.

and I guess i used to be a militant atheist but now Im an apatheist. I dont believe and I dont care XD But I agree if religion does get dangerous (which unfortunately it does) then something should be done.

Seriously, I love the Greek islands and find Cyprus much the same - relaxed and friendly. I get on really well with Greek people; I find they often have a dry and subtle sense of humour.
