Perhaps Asmo and Guardian will find this interesting. About an hour from me is the town of Clifton, Texas which bills itself as the "Norwegian Capital of Texas". Not much Norwegian there, but in the tiny community of Norse, about 15 minutes from Clifton, is a Lutheran church and a cemetery. The cemetery is full of graves of Norwegian immigrants. King Olav V of Norway visited the cemetery in 1982 to lay a wreath and dedicate a marker to commemorate the 200th anniversary of Kleng Peerson's birth. He was considered the pioneer of Norwegian immigration to the USA.
