So, like, this dude's really engaged.  Weren't we just asking a few days ago how the forum could be revived?  And then ______ sends Gloucester along!?@%>   He's got energy, opinions, etc.  He's THE ONE!!!  The one who was prophesied!!!  " Gloucester" must be an anagram for something really profound.

Yes, Mega Mag, deep in dark the recesses of this forum, consigned to troll hell, there is mention of one Pahu, a persistent cretin, sorry, creationist who claims that science disproves evolution.

Creationist (pseudo-) science that is. Which is of course,  a mismush of miss-quoted-out-of-context stuff bent (beyond breaking point in some cases) to fit the Yloh Elbib account.

So solid was his belief that knocking bricks out of his edifice with the JCB of Evidence weakened it not. I fear I sank from rationality to ridicule in my approach to him - but there is only so much repetitive copy and paste one humble humanist can take  :-\  He had no understanding of wot he "wrote".

Hmmmmm!

Tescos are selling Lindt chilli chocolate again!

Yum!

Of course, being Tesco, it was no-where near the confectionary aisle but in the wine one. Hmmm, Merlot and chilli choc, close to heaven (if there were such a place).

OK, it will not help my gout but, bugger it, one has to live dangerously at times!

Wait, you have gout?  So you're human.  I have it, too, sometimes, in my right big toe.  Too much rich food and beer.

I am not actually sure that I suffered from gout per se.

Went to my GP with tales ofvwoe regarding a series of pains that had condensed into my keft foot. From previous experience I was sure it was tendonitis andcwas after some highmlevel cocodamol, normal stuff not touching it, so I could get some sleep at night.

However blood tests did indicate raised uric acid levels. Research indicated none of my symptons were typical of gout, but I did take a look at my diet. Now had a second blood test and await results but have suitable medication on standby.

As I said elsewhere, half the foods that are good for my ticker are bad for gout and vice-versa. Add in the foods that work against warfarin, and are therefore banned, and life gets boring!

So I live dangerously and just reduce the trigger foods rather than cut them out. I had peas with lunch yesterday!!!

Nope, sort of stumbled on you guys whilst looking for other atheist/secular/humanist forums that weren't too abrasive. My other forum is going thtough a veryvquiet patch at the moment, but I have not deserted them.

I'm my own agent, don't need no supernatural incorporates or myths to point me in the right direction!

At the time of the wars of the roses, 'Gloucester' was the usual title of the man who became Richard III.  Just stay away from Bosworth, Gloucester!

Gloucester has a patchy history. Daniel Defoe, on his perambulations around the realm, gave an account of Gloucester's history but, effectively, dismissed the then city as, "... nice cathedral, interesting bridge ..."

Not so long ago Shell left it out of their touring book altogether. In "Dancing with Sabrina" the author extolled the bewuty of most towns on the Severn but hardly looked into Gloucester - he did not like a pub called "The Baker Street", then a bit run down, and judged the whole place on that.

Gloucester has a fantastic history and heritage, despite what the Victorians and 1960s "brutalist" style developers did,  but a string of city councils have, basicaly, done the city no favours at all - neither builfing on the tourist aspect nor dragged the city into the modern age. Cheltenham has virtually no history but has developed a whole "festival" culture that makes it a great place. Gloucester tries but never seems  to spend quite enough cash, time or energy to make it unique and successful, several half completed grand ideas that have been money drains.

Great shame.

The Civil War began there with the battle of Powick Bridge in 1642, and finally finished with the battle of Gloucester in 1651.

Tank, can you describe your experience with gout, please?
I.e. - was the pain needles, six inch nails or more like a bruised feeling, small area or large? Was it stabbing/shooting or continuous (when not provoked). Was there any skin colour, any swelling? How long from first inkling did all out agony take?

I ask because I have, sort of, reduced the triggers diet-wise and for two days my feet have almost been pain free, I have been resting them. Then, late yesterday, a sort of bruised feeling started in the very outside of my right foot, about half way between the small toe base joint and the ankle.

Now, I would put this down to tendonitis normally but I have deliberately avoided ladders or any other thing that might stretch the foot beyond normal walking. (Took me a few days to learn how not to limp habitually!)

So, just checking with a fellow victim. Looking at lots of available images on Google seems to indicate the location of this pain is not typical. However, my medical history seems to indicate my responses to disease are somewhat off the typical curve! My cardiologist always looks carefully at me as I walk into his room, checking that I have a shadow and am not translucent I think!

Swollen and red little toe that hurt like hell when touched. Pain want away in about 10 minutes after 600mg of ibuprofen. Pian persisted for about a week before I didn't need medication any more. The pain was surprisingly intense but nondescript.

Hmm, nothing like that, all my pain has not been a problem with light pressure on site, again, more like a bruise than a boil! General swelling and pink flush over whole top of foot rather than localised, still reckon it is tendons.

Can't take ibruprofen due to other meds and gasritis, the gel strips the top layer of skin - bit like 1st degree sunburn. Paracetamol does not touch it. Only high level codeine works but that locks up my digestive system. Stopped taking latter two nights ago and have lost 3kg weight in three trips to the loo since!

Only anagram I can work out is "closet urge".

Not gonna tell yer what the urge is though, it stays in the closet
