In the early morning, at a gay bar in Orlando, a lunatic used an AR15 to slaughter 50 people. He also left more than 50 more seriously injured. The Orlando SWAT team had to be somewhat hesitant to attack the shooter because it was feared that he might also have a suicide bomber vest. Not that the SWATs were in fear for themselves alone, but there were still a hundred or more people inside the bar. A SWAT shooter did kill him before any more carnage. Aside from 9/11 this was the most deadly attack in our history. Not unexpected is that the perp has an Arabic name and is believed to be sympathetic toward ISIS.

I had a feeling this was the case.
The night club was unique in that the regulars included a lot of straight people who mingled freely with the LGBTs . Interesting to note that almost all the victims had Hispanic names. Whether the shooter had gay tendencies is pure speculation. He was married and his wife is under suspicion because she knew that he intended to do some murders and she claims that she tried to talk him out of it. We'll have to wait for that detail to unravel.
That place is within easy driving distance from where I live. I avoid Orlando like the plague because it is so crowded with people and traffic jams and criminally inflated prices.

That is correct G85. The weapon was first thought to be an AR15 but it turned out to be the Sig-Sauer. And yes they have handy folding stocks to make it more convenient for those who wish to conceal the weapon.
That's not the primary purpose of a folding stock though, is it? I can see how it can inprove the user's agility, for example. I don't know... I grow less and less interested in guns the older I get, so... Just speculating.

The large majority of Americans would agree to greater restrictions on gun purchases and other forms of gun control, consistent with allowing sane, law-abiding people to keep their usual firearms. But the majority GOP Congress is so enthralled to the NRA that it is difficult to get any reasonable regulations passed. The election in November may change that, as it is possible that the GOP will lose the Senate and much of its majority in the House. I continue to think Hillary will win the White House, so maybe the Dems will have 2 out of 3 of the political institutions.

I just watched a video on facebook of a guy in jeans and a T shirt. He hid an AR-15 and 5 mags and a 9mm semi and 5 mags under the T shirt and in his jeans. That's at least 30*5 + 13*5 rounds (215). He changed the magazines and then held the weapons for the time it would take to empty the magazine. The video lasted less than 2 minutes.
