This was was in Istanbul, Taksim, near the area of Gezi Park. At least 3 dead. This is the 4th bombing in recent weeks following 2 in Ankara and another location in Istanbul, Sultanahmet specifically. At this point, the initial dread of whether we know anyone affected (thankfully none so far) has been replaced with resigned sighs. Not sure if this was is linked to a Kurdish rebel group or ISIS, though the latter seems more likely.
We're supposed to go there in May for a wedding. I hope the situation improves, but I'm pretty cynical. It would be a real shame for everyone if the country continues to drift in the direction it's going.
If Kemal Atatürk was alive today, he'd be turning in his grave.
