Title: I CAN'T DECIDE!!
Post by: MadBomr101 on December 29, 2015, 05:06:42 AM
I've narrowed my choices down to either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump. They both embody the kind of strong leadership this country needs to right the ship of state but I can't choose for this very reason. Trump is just awesome in his self-confident bluster but I question his godliness - I'm unconvinced of his faith. Cruz is a pillar of godliness but he's never been on TV nor been married to a supermodel. These are things that need to be taken into consideration. I need to pray to Jesus to guide my decision-making in this most important choice.

Which of these candidates will you be voting for and why?

Amen.

I think Jesus wants you to vote for Mike Huckabee.

If that is true I'm sure my Lord and Savior will make His will known to me through a  burning snake or a talking bush.

Wait... scratch that, reverse it.

Amen.

I know what you mean, Firebird. I wasn't really sure if MadBomr101 was for real, or just being sarcastic.  :-\

At least 7X out of 10 it's a safe bet I'm being sarcastic. I leave it to your good judgement to determine if this is one of those times.

Yikes Tom! Surely you are not getting reliable information there in western Europe.  Trump the master of bloviating, while having his finger on the red button?  He is only slightly less goofy that the North Korean crazy assed leader, Kim whatzisname.. Beside that Trumps hair do is way out of style.

I was just kidding. Bernie Sanders is my favourite candidate. It is about time that USA gets a socialist as president, sothat the Americans can suffer as much from higher taxes and petrol prices as the Europeans  ;D.

^  Hmmm. I think that our taxes for the common man are sufficiently high. Our petrol prices are at this time most favorable. It is going for $1.88 US per gallon today. That translates to 3.785 liters or 49.7 cents per liter US. How much per liter in Your part of the world?

As a matter of fact I do not resent my tax burden too much.  The taxes provide me with a lot of Socialist benefits that I could not get otherwise. I am thinking of highways, streetlights, fire and police protection, potable water, refuse disposal, and a lot more benefits that the ordinary citizen bitches about. There ain't no free lunch and so we have to extract taxes in order to pay for those things that we have so foolishly taken for granted. Here in the US we geezers enjoy social security benefits in the form of monthly cash stipends, and Medicare benefits that are most helpful to those older people who no longer earn a living by way of gainful employment, We have thousands of State and National parks and people who are paid to see that they are used with some degree of sensitivity, we have Armed forces that cost a lot of money, and a plethora of other advantages that are actually exercises in outright socialism.

We have a shit for brains society that equates the word socialism with Stalinist communism and Gulags. We are a socialist society and it is working pretty well, just not perfectly.  The expenditures of our national, state, and local taxes are sometimes......,often times, done with less than admirable efficiency. That is partly our own fault as we, as shit for brains electors, put  slick talking, shady, characters in the offices that dispense our tax monies.

Oh Lawrdy lord I am on a tirade.       I'll go to my room now.

All modern governments are a mixture of capitalism and socialism.  It's the mixture that differs.

Here in Germany we pay approx. 3 times more (€ 1.40 / $ 1.53)

The common man (and women too I suppose) should be propelling themselves with legs or bicycles or other approved conveyances. They certainly should not be putting profit in the pockets of the rapists of our mother.

Do you own a car?

It's about the same here = about £1 a litre.  However our car runs on Autogas (butane) which is about half that, at 52 pence a litre.

I've narrowed my choices down to either Ted Cruz or Donald Trump.

As soon as Trump tells Marco Rubio that he needs to go back across the Rio Grande with all the other Mexicans he'll have my vote.

(All joking aside, I would LOVE for that to happen in the next debate. It would be priceless....)

Why is petrol so much more expensive in Europe and the UK. That is a world market driven product whose prices are subject to the whims of the buyers/sellers of crude oil.  Perhaps a much larger tax is leveled on petrol in Europe and UK?

Fuel taxes are an important source of general revenue. Whenever extra money is needed, the finance ministers immediately start thinking about increasing fuel taxes. A few days ago, our finance minister thought that it might be a good idea to raise the tax for paying the refugee crisis costs. Green parties love to add eco taxes to the fuel price, to promote ecological sustainability.

What is the mileage per litre?

About 20% less than on petrol under the same conditions, but it's still a great deal cheaper overall.

That's what I was wondering. So adjusted price for efficiency would be 62p/L or about 40% cheaper per mile.

I'd also say people here tend to drive less. Certainly from my experience of the usa, people drive everywhere as often nothing is within easy walking distance. Here, I walk to the local shops, post office,  bank etc. It's also possible to get public transport to a lot of places.  It's often easier (though not necessarily cheaper) to get a train to another city rather than drive.
