Post by: xSilverPhinx on December 19, 2014, 12:46:09 AM
I don't know if I'll have internet for the next 10 days so I just wanted to wish you all a merry Xmas in advance. :)

Thank you xSP and Happy Hannikah and  Felice Navidad, to you and all our esteemed HAFers. All you other linguists, please fill in the holiday greetings with other languages.  Git you are on deck with Gaelic or whatever, Bruno, Tom, G85, Asmo, Viojit, Anatoli.................and all.

( HTF do you spell Hah- ni-kuh if you are insufficiently Jewish?.... and maybe I did not get the Spanish one right either...... where is Lewis Black ;) and Mags when I need them?  My intentions are good in any case )

You almost got them right, Icarus.  ;D They're spelled Feliz Navidad and Hanukkah.

Bruno already compiled a list here (http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=13649.msg298002#msg298002), if you're interested.

Tom please translate to English equivalent. There are a lot of words there to express the seasonal greeting.

Happy solstice! Tomorrow will have a tiny bit more daylight than today in the northern hemisphere.  :D

A weekly columnist in my newspaper is an army chaplain. He is a pretty tolerable writer. Today he told us that many Christmas carols are misguided, like the three kings thing, the no room at the inn bit, the shepherds tending their flock and a few more improbabilities., .. He also told us that the birth of JC was not likely to have been in December. More likely in summer or fall. His reasoning was powerful.  So when I see those damned yard signs that say; "Jesus is the reason for the season". I am slightly annoyed. Dammit the winter solstice is the reason for the season.

Never mind the historicity. I wish everyone here a happy, healthy, prosperous, holiday season.

This is the only thing that annoys me more than Bible thumping Christians --- people who don't even know about their own religion.

No, for real I didn't think he'd croaked. I saw that OG, a once prolific poster, wasn't posting anymore ( :-X ) and wondered why.

Merry Christmas Everybody! I hope all those of you who celebrate it have a wonderful night tonight. There's a bit of negativity going on around here, right now, but that's OK. I can see we're all trying to make the best of it.  :-*

Thanks Mags. I'm excitedly sitting here waiting for my daughter and her boyfriend to arrive, they left northern Michigan earlier this morning, and should be arriving soon (Just got text they are on hour away ;D)
Can't wait to see them both, after they arrive we are off to the market to get some groceries, and then returning home to prepare the Christmas Eve Feast.

I wish everyone here a Merry Christmas.

I haven't seen my daughter in a couple months and I miss her terribly. Just having them here with us for several days is going to be wonderful; and having the whole family together, son (Joshua), wife (Socorro), daughter (Brendita) and boyfriend/son-in-law (Levi) is the really the best present I could ask for.

That's lovely, Bruno.  My family are here now, wrecking the place. :D

BTW rumours of my demise were inaccurate.  I'll tell you when I'm dead.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. I'm working tonight, then off tomorrow night. Nothing big here, just me and Odin and a pretty tree. Some movies, wine, and Warcraft.

So where is Gawen? Whitney, Determined Juliet, Will, I Hate You Mike, Too Few Lions, Animated Dirt, Squid, McQ, Willow?

Mean spirited bastards, couldn't even drop us a line at Xmas.
I'm not suggesting being a mean spirited bastard is a bad thing.
Spirit is a limited resource and should be used prudently.
