Title: Resurrection discrepancies
Post by: myleviathan on May 15, 2008, 08:54:36 PM
I've been debating a little bit on a Christian forum. It's kind of stupid because non-christians are only allowed to post in the "Christian Answers" section. Only one non-christian can post in any particular thread, so it's you against dozens of Christians. Although I must say it's kind of exhillarating. Anyway, my original post was about the account in Matthew (and Matthew alone) where it gets dark after the crucifiction and there's an earthquake, and there's a resurrection of saints. I was writing on how redicuous it is that this very important story is not once mentioned in ANY of the other gospel accounts, which points to the evidence of a made up story. A lot of the Christians came back with "well, it doesn't matter. The only resurrection that matters is that of Jesus."

So does anybody have any good resurrection discrepancies to point out? I haven't done much research on it yet, but I'm planning to get kicked off this forum in style. So your input would be appreciated.

I'll bet if they were living back then they wouldn't think that the zombies were inconsequential. I'm living in fear of them 2000 years later!

Some questions to ask them:
Was the tomb open when Mary Magdalen arrived?
How many angels were there? And were they inside or outside of the tomb?
Who first saw Jesus after his resurrection?
Did Jesus appear to his disciples in Jerusalem or Galilee?
Did Jesus ascend in Jerusalem or Galilee?

I hope to one day be the Mozart of taking apart religious arguments. Right now, I'm maybe the Schumann or Mussorgsky.

I have two things for you to read:

The Ridiculous Gospel of Matthew

The second is in three parts:

The Empty Tomb

This first link was written, just a few days ago in fact, by a friend of mine. The second series of links were written by me.

Enjoy.
