I can't remember any hollywood actors admitting being atheist. Anyone know of any?
Would probably be career suicide tbh.

I would think it is much harder for a Politician to be "non-Christian" in the USofA...
Wonder how many Agnostic actors there are?

I'm doing a scrapbook called a Belief album and I did a two-page layout on Jodie Foster featuring the article that was in EW about her. I have other celebs that I'll feature as well. I have a layout about the Dixie Chicks and their struggles a few years back, the fracus over Harry Potter and the Golden Compass, some clever comics about atheism, that sort of thing. It's in response to the scrapbooking trend to do "Faith Albums" documenting their faith in whatever. But I want to make sure I feature plenty of scientists and celebrities who are smart enough to know the facts.
Dibs on Natalie Portman.
In the last issue of the Sunday Parade, Robert Downey Jr. was on the cover and there was an article about his life with LOTS of interview quotes from him. The last paragraph, he goes over the qualities that helped him get his life together and there was no mention of god or religion. If he were going to credit the supernatural, it would have been in the list, surely, esp. in Parade, a very conservative publication.
I have hope for him yet. :-)

WOOOW! Thanks man!

There are some surprising names on there. Sean Penn?? Who'd have thunk it!
I'm glad George Cloony is on the list. He's cool.
Penn and Teller would classify as actors and they are both atheists....Penn is especially active in trying to support and promote free-thought.
Penn and Teller are cool --- I don't get whatever cable network their "Bullshit" show was/is on (Showtime, maybe?). But, I have seen a few episodes. Not only are they entertaining, but their points seem bang-on to me.
One I recall, they were interviewing a ghost-hunter, who explained in great detail what his scientific equipment did. EMF detectors, temperature sensors, FLIR camera, the whole works, right. Then, Penn questioned how such physical and natural gear could possibly be of use trying to find non-physical super-natural phenomenon.

Gotta love a mind that functions with such clarity of thought!

Yeah, Penn and Teller are Fantastic. There is a great youtube vid of Penn explaining his stance on religion during an interview in Vegas.
Was good to see.
This vid is great:

Yeah, I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist myself either. My wife reacts rather violently to these claims that the planes "weren't real planes" --- she was still working in 2001, and one of her old coworkers (older than her by about 30 years or so) had an adult son who died on one of the WTC planes. The only identification they ever received was his wedding ring.

Damn..
Speaking of all of these great people (Penn and Teller specifically), does anyone attend The Amazing Meeting?? I booked Joe last year, got him a plane ticket and everything and he cancelled at the last minute because he just won't do something great for himself. Ugh. Penn and Teller are there, along with Adam and Jamie from Mythbusters, Julia Sweeney, James Randi and lots more.
This year, only Adam from MB will be there (and we'd rather see Jamie if only one of them), Julia Sweeney isn't on the list... Bummer.

I've never heard of it either...is it like a convention or something?

From the website:
"The Amaz!ng Meeting is a celebration of critical thinking and skepticism sponsored by the James Randi Educational Foundation. Thinking people travel the world to share learning, laughs and life with fellow skeptics and distinguished guest speakers."

It's "sponsored by" (?) the James Randi Foundation and is supposedly so very WOW to attend. A free-thinker convention, so to speak.
Dude, I wanna go!
