Ok, I think there is too much seriousness going on here lately.  We really need to be discussing the earth-shaking important issues of the day like what are the top 10 beers in the world.  How can this be a bad discussion??

I'll add Chimay (Blue) to the mix. And for an every day beer, Yeungling Lager.

Rolling Rock is the best.  Nothing goes better with a steak and loaded potato.

That's why my guys like going out to dinner with me.

My favorite beer so far is Three Philosophers...but I can't get it around here.

I'm not a big beer drinker, but Sammy Adams is friggin good, especially the Boston Lager. Second favorite was probably Dos Equis Special Lager. Yes it's relatively weak, but it's nice afternoon beer. I kinda lost interest in beer a few years back.

Give me a 15 year old single malt scotch and I'm a happy man.

I have hardly drink 10 different beers . I've bee buying different stuff over the last few weeks.

But nothin too light...yuk.

I do like:

Alaska Amber
Fat Tire

I will have to say Guinness Draught is the most 'different' of all I have drink. In a good way. Safeway didn't have anything else from Guinness.

It's been a few years since I have drink the Sam Adams Boston Lager, then I found it disgusting. I'd have to bump into it at a friends house and get one for free before I buy any. At that time I hardly drink though.

After 2 tours in Germany, I can only say that American beer "ist scheiße". Can't stand the stuff.

My favourite beers:

Beers I don't like:
1. The first pint of any english beer and Heinken. However after 2 pints I don't give a shit anymore how bad it is
2. any kind of light and alcoholfree beer (I hate that stuff)
3. Very dark and bitter tasting beers
4. Stella Artois

The only American beer that I've tried so far and tasted like beer was Sam Adam's Boston Lager.

One of my all-time favorite was the Alt (served on cask) at Goose Island in the city of Chicago.  Man - was it ever good.

But - my favorite beer?  Easy: the first one I have after work!  :wink:

Corona with lime.  But Rolling Rock and Red Stripe are good, too.

I prefer light 'hoppy' beers to heavier, dark 'malty' beers.

I recently tried Blue Tongue and it was pretty good.  I also had a light, CA brew that was good, but I can't remember what brand it was.

And I love Ace Pear Cider.  I know it's not beer, but it is yummy!

I must add in the Paulaner Heffeweisen that has such a great woody after taste to it.  With lemon, this is one of the best beers I have ever had!

I'm kind of surprised no one mentioned Anchor Steam Beer. Great beer.

I enjoy Anchor Steam myself, and I'm glad to see so many lovers of Chimay and other trappist beers!  I often get...

Sam Adams
Chimay (blue mostly, but also red)
I love Hobgoblin
All the Dogfish Head beers I've had (Really liked the 90 and 60 minute IPAs)

And so many others I'm leaving out!  Beer is indeed a wonderful thing!

I'm a Corona with Lemon gal myself... but I also like Rolling Rock.  We've been experimenting with a different beer every time we go to Uwajamaya (an asian superstore) or Trader Joe's... and I've hated every one of them... dark, light, soft, amber, pale... doesn't matter.  Corona or Rolling Rock are about it for me.

After I posted about Corona last night, i had to go out and get a sixer and some lemons.  It was very yummy.  And after the blowout we just had with the kid, I need another one... or two... or maybe the rest of the six pack.  

OMG!!! What a great picture!!!  To hell with that pot of gold and leprechans.....that is what I want to see at the end of the rainbow!!!

The only way I can swallow a beer is after I've had at least two cheerleader beers.  Otherwise, blech!  Disown me if you must.  

Well, I don't disown you, jrosebud, simply because you dislike beer.  I will think you're weird, though....  

I'm pretty poor so I'd hafta say on a regular basis I drink Keystone Light...which once you drink enough of you forget what REAL beer tastes like!  At the moment though I'm enjoyin' a Henry Weinhard's Private Reserve and it's tastin' purty dern good.

Anchor Steam.....I hear that is a Bay Area brew.  I haven't tried it yet, but I have some friends rolling in to town in a few weeks and hopefully we can find a 'wall of beer' that has it on tap.  There used to be this great college bar called "Magoo's"  near UH which also did pizza and sushi.  70 beers on tap, great pizza and Sam Adams pitchers for $6....and that is like a 64oz pitcher.   Too bad they closed about a year ago.....landlord kept raising their rent.   Hell, I took a few night classes at the local community college just down the street so I could stop by after class.  

Yeah, Kona, I used to live near a Chicago suburb called Westmont.  They had a great brewpub in town, and a sports bar called "Slammers" that was famous for having 100 beers on tap.  It was very cool.  Both were shut down for what I suspect was continual police harassment.  Police cruisers used to circle the Slammers parking lot on Friday and Saturday nights, and it wasn't unusual to be followed or even stopped on a ridiculous pretense when you left.  Hard for a bar to survive that.....

They have 950 different beers on offer and about 300 different beer-glasses. They pride ourselves in having the largest selection of beers in the world. They don't try to have as many different brands as possible, but simply try to have the best ones, world-wide.

I can't imagine that I'll ever have the opportunity to find myself in Amsterdam, but if I do I'll surely check it out!  I like the name: Bierkoning.  Roughly, "Beer King", right?  Here in the states we have "Burger King", but "Beer King" seems a lot better.

Yes, Bierkoning translates into Beer King. Which is an appropiate name because they are located in the "Palace Street". In Belgium you've also got some nice beer heavens. I remember a pub in Antwerp where they had all existig belgium beers on offer. My friends and I try to drink the beers according to the alphabet, but didn't even make it halfway the letter "A".

Now - this seems like a worthwhile pursuit, and one that I could be seriously talked into joining.  And they say atheists don't have any purpose in their lives!    

One style of beer I really like is German Alt (or altbier, "old beer" - basically German ale instead of lager, made the "old" way - hence the name).  I've heard that the Altstadt in Dusseldorf is a beer-lovers paradise.  Again, I probably will never have the opportunity to go there, but if I ever do I plan to make the most of it!

Maybe I should start thinking about heading to Amsterdam for the holidays this year instead of seeing my family.  I'm sure they would understand.  "Mom....I know I promised, but......but......but.....950 beers!  What if Amsterdam gets hit by an asteroid or attacked by terrorists and the place is gone?  How could I ever feel happy again?"

Have you ever watched Multiplicity?  I'm always in the mood for pizza when I see your screen name...

No, I have not seen Multiplicity (with Michael Keaton & Andie Mc-what's-her-name, right?).  What's the pizza link?  I'm curious.  I frequently have a craving for pizza, and now I'm wondering if this could be due to an underlying cause.  Previously, I've just blamed this on the ease of finding good deep-dish pizza in the Chicago area....

This reminds me of a humorous moment from my collegiate life.  I had once made a prediction to a friend of mine that if I had a beer, I could eat any pizza.  And likewise, if I had a pizza I could drink any beer.  He took me up on the challenge the morning after a dorm party by producing a warm, flat beer (of low quality to begin with) and a cold Hawaiian pizza (ham & pineapple) that had been sitting out all night.  At first I thought this was unfair, as I had been sort of assuming a "good" beer + any pizza, or a "good" pizza plus any beer, but since I failed to specify I agreed to try.  While I would not recommend this experience, I was surprised to find that it didn't gross me out nearly to the degree I thought it would.  I was able, without having to struggle, to both drink the beer and eat the pizza.  It wasn't actually all that bad.

Ultimately, this belies a truth: either there is some validity to the beer + pizza thing, or I'm just a lot less discriminating and a lot more disgusting then I otherwise would have wanted to believe!

In Multiplicity, Michael Keaton's character clones himself because he's feeling stretched a little thin at home and at work.  The first copy is a manly man; he covers for the main character at his construction job.  The second is rather efeminate; it helps out with the kids and the cooking.

The testosterone clone and the stereoypically gay one make an additional guy.  Apparently, DNA decays as it's passed along (the show's absurd - I was ten? when I saw it), so the third guy is one twist short of a slinky.  Number 3 always refers to the main character (I can't recall his name) as "Steve."  He's often found eating pizza and offers to share.  "Wan' some pizza, Steve?"

That line is one of those moments from childhood that stuck.  It's served with every pie I purchase.  (And, I imagine, if we ever get a male cat, we'll name him "Steve.")

Cold Hawaiian and flat beer?  Oh my...

I'll stick to my fizzy caffeine and New York cheese pizza, Steve.  

Ah - got it.  Makes sense now!  Yeah, I don't really recommend the flat-beer warm-Hawaiian combination either.  I like a good hop-spicy Pilsner along with a Chicago-style stuffed pizza for my beer & pizza combo-of-choice.  One just has to treat stuffed pizza with moderation --- too easy to get fat eating too much of it!
