Bishop calls for blasphemy laws (http://www.thelocal.de/society/20120802-44127.html)
QuoteA Catholic bishop has called for a blasphemy law in Germany, saying all religions deserved legal protection from attack in order to preserve human dignity.
"Those who injure the souls of believers with scorn and derision must be put in their place and in some cases also punished," said Bamberg Archbishop Ludwig Schick on Wednesday.
He said there should be a "Law against the derision of religious values and feelings," the Süddeutsche Zeitung reported.
Is he really worried about souls or his job?
Souls are his job, aren't they? ;)
At least he extends it to all religions - maybe in the modern climate he has to, like it or not.
How about a law protecting choirboys' bottoms?

There is a law protecting choir boy's bottoms, it's just that Catholic priests have difficulty observing it.
I hope the Germans have enough sense to hang up on this call. I wonder though, would it apply to cults and New Age religions as well?
Isn't proclaiming the Christian god to be the one true god and all others to be false gods a derision of all other religions.
With this law, everyone goes to prison.

I agree with this whole pumpedly.
Obviously damage to an actual soul will have to proved.

If someone damages my sole, I will go after them with the full strength of the law.

The role of Catholic bishops in Nazi Germany remains a controversial topic.
I wish you well but I'm worried your case will flounder.

Have I upset you? So sorry, I hope you don't start to blubber.

Ye sorry I concede defeat here, the whale thing was pushing the limits and the blubber was beyond the bounds. I'm sure I've read an encyclical that deals with this but I'll have to get back to you on it.

In researching this story, I learned that Germany already has a blasphemy law dating back to 1871, but apparently it isn't stringent enough for this fellow. Christianity in Europe seems to be fighting a rear-guard action as it becomes more marginal, but I don't know that it'll make much difference if stronger anti-blasphemy laws are enacted.
The current German anti-blasphemy law was most recently used (http://www.expatica.com/de/news/local_news/suspended-prison-for-german-who-insulted-koran-27912.html) against a man that printed the words "Koran, the Holy Koran" on rolls of toilet paper. That same year (2006), the conservative premier of Bavaria talked about trying to get a stronger blasphemy law enacted (http://www.dw.de/dw/article/0,,2069811,00.html), but he apparently met with little success.
If you can't deal with a German bishop, then you are a moral shrimp.

Jeez, such thin skin this guy has. Any small needle prick and he goes crying and running. He can suck on his mother's udder for all I care.
His pink hat looks kinda gay.
Trust the Pudding to notice the hat! :D
I'm fishing for details. ;D

Pink is nice though.
Well it could be.
You love and yours loves you.
I wish you both well.
It's not that hard, I don't really understand what has to be jettisoned to attain normality.
