Post by: Guardian85 on July 23, 2012, 12:17:05 PM
Having taken a LOT of pictures on my recent trip to the Mediterranean, I thought I might share a few of them here in order to instigate massive jealousy towards in all of you.  ;D

Here are a few from the first day in rome. Mind the old rocks:

So do I. Just had a look on skyscanner and you can get flights for as cheap as £48 return (and that's in August!), with prices that low it seems criminal not to.

I loved Rome,
Especially the Trevi Fountain, the statues, the old buildings, the Geleto.
In NZ you don't get to see any buildings 200 years old let alone 2,000 years.

The view from atop the Castle is great, get to see the whole city.

Much of it is visually ravishing and the Italians do have a joie- de-vivre which paradoxically the French, despite inventing the phrase,  signally lack. My daughter has netted herself a Sicilian boyfriend and with visions of  exotic, sun- filled,  Marsala-drenched holidays to come,  I have warned her that if she chucks him ,I will immediately disown her. Kids nowadays are so selfish and think only of their own happiness.

I had the good fortune to live in Italy for 3 years (1972-75), and still think it's one of the most beautiful and interesting places in the world. Plus, it introduced me to espresso, cappucino, and vino rosso. Ah, the beginning of a life-long love affair.
