Damn it I scanned the page but photobucket doesn't want to upload it.
But anyhow I got some god mail. So I opened it, thought it was kinda funny. Not addressed to anyone, just a spam type thing sent to every house.
But yeah it had a bunch of bible quotes and how to pray and god would send you money via some big church. It was from Saint Mathews Church Bishops @ biblical prayer.com apparently. Along with the bible quotes and crap, there was a picture of blurry Jesus, they called it the 'prayer rug' lol:
"Enclosed is my seed gift to gods work of $____"
God damn, lol. He calls himself a Darwinian, so he is pretty much a atheist. It'll contrast well against the typical bikini models, RX7's and race cars. heh
If it involves Jesus, anything is possible. That includes flying at Mach 7 and walking through walls. With man such things are not possible.
I once got a little sack of holy water to bless whatever and it claimed thousands had blessed it from Israel. I used to get alot and had to make umpteen phone calls to get them to stop. Apparently a BAC born again christian I knew gave all of them my mailing address
There's one I still get but only because there's no phone number to call and have it cancelled. So I just throw it out and let them waste their money on the postage.

Do you really get mail like this in america?

It just means we are a Saved Nation!

Yes. I've received similar myself. My favorite had a fold-out picture of Jesus that you could use to pray to.....
We always get greeting cards or a rosary (that I used to feel guilty throwing away. Used to.) with a donation request from Catholic charities. They used to send return mailing address labels. I wonder if anyone actually sent them money. Then again, I really don't care.
Hahaha.

Just doesn't seem fair, does it? We have to
pay for our toilet paper.

I'm glad we don't get that kind of religious mail here in Holland.

I get the occasional (not more than 5 a year) mailer inviting the current residents to attend some local church....the last one was for a church with a rock band.
I also haven't had a mormon at my door my entire adult life....maybe they somehow know I'd be a waste of their preaching time ::shrug::
I havent had any god person at my door--but I have only lived away from the parents for a little over a year.
So yeah I hung the shitty picture in my roommates room.
Hey legion, if you want I can exhibit blasphemy on the photo and mail it to you. Want it?
At most we only ever got two per year at our current house - one invitation letter around Easter and a begging envelope for "Christian Aid Week". I guess most people are guilt-tripped into putting a little bit of cash in by the inevitable picture of a starving orphan - but two years ago I happened to be in when they came calling for the envelope, and a simple "sorry, we give quite enough already, and to secular charities" and they haven't been back since...
Being blacklisted by the church round here does make for a peaceful life
At least Christian Aid is a charity and only wants money for the sake of helping impoverished people in third world countries. It's not out to help itself.
We get the occasional envelope from Christian Aid too but beyond that we've never been bothered (unless you count carol singers *pops a round in the air gun*). Guess I'm just lucky. There are, however, people in St. Nick's market, near the city centre, who gather every Saturday to preach to the public. They dish out some some crap I can tell you. I live in Portishead though (a small wurzel town on the outskirts) so I don't often encounter them.
I'm not so bothered about it being Chrstian Aid as the fact that it's the local church doing the collecting. The ones who come to the door asking for our money are the same ones who, when they're not after our purses, are slagging us off because of our "lifestyle choices".
Oh... oops... I just made my own thread about my Prayer Rug.
"Seed gift" eeeeewwwww
Yeah

.... seriously. It's like they are actually trying to promote sperm donation or somethin. Heh---maybe thats something they could get in the mail.
haha I am disgusting...

Ah, I see what you mean. It's the same here though I'm not an ex-church goer so I none of them know my family or what our religious sentiments are. I would recommend getting a couple of large dogs.
I love how everyone just ignored legion for the first 5 posts, THATS how to deal with fundies.
Over here in the UK I have been visited by Jehovah's Witnesses once, they were selling some Christmas Jesus video, so I told them we didn't have a VCR (which we don't) and then fobbed them off with excuses, maybe that the oven was on or something.
Legion is just misunderstood. He's a sailor for Jesus!
