Title: The Rant Thread
Post by: xSilverPhinx on June 19, 2012, 03:11:44 AM
I don't want to darken the general laid back mood of this forum but I think a good exclusively for ranting thread is lacking around here. A place where you can go to blurt out your innermost turmoil to everyone and anyone, people who want to hear about how your day didn't go well...or not. Or how some evil thing just keeps following you around in attempt to make your life miserable.

Just as importantly, a thread that people can avoid if they don't feel like reading about just how ____________ (add nasty adjective here) ________ (add something) is.
A real cesspool of pure noxiously obnoxious cacophonous whining, whingeing and endless rambling.

How you wish you could wish upon a star and some things could simply resolve themselves, and quickly too, before you can snap your fingers ;D

Let's start easy, shall we?

There are road works around here... Some people got some money, and so they are busily re-decorating E-18. Naturally, they've mowed the asphalt and not put out signs saying there is a sharp edge going along the right side of the road. Double puncture, CURSED be the cheap-ass hard rubber tyres!  >:(

I wouldn't even mind if as a result of it all, the road became like... Better. But nooo, them holes that were there before, they still be there. Thery are just coated with some new asphalt.  >:(

Me not having the best of weeks, this is where I would normally insert a long string of curses, but those are such as to wilt the ears off even this thread.  >:(

Oh, and have I mentioned  >:( ? Well,  >:( .  >:( , I tell you.

I could absolutely kick myself not taking the early retirement I was offered in December.  Then I'd have 6 months of sleeping in and spending all day reading under my belt now instead of dragging myself to work everyday for another 5 months.

It's here to, like a vacuum cleaner, suck in all the dissatisfaction that people don't want to talk about because...well, for whatever reason.

But yeah, the antagonists are good ;D

They say that retirement will be pushed back further and further into the future for people like me. Having said that, however, going to work should not be underestimated as a source of satisfaction. Believe me, after day three, you will wake up and go: "Shit, do I really have the next thirty years to find something to do?

LMAO!  BCE, your "special friend" is named Hoyt?

Lessee, what am I grouchy about?  Well, my car is in the shop, which means that I am stranded here at work.  And, AND the neverending flood remidiation continues at my house.  So basically both my house and my car are all messed up.  Also, this shirt is lower cut than I remembered, and I have to sit up very straight at all times or else risk having parts of me fall out.  >:(

Fox news is the kind of thing that just shows that most people who claim left wing are really somewhere in the middle, and people who claim right wing are ignorant fools.  We tend to see reason and admit fault whereas they ignore every good thing a democrat does or spins it into a bad thing.  Every time they have a debate they either cut off the democrat constantly or cut them off completely by going to a commercial right when they start talking.  When tea partiers step on a womans head that kind of thing is brushed under the table, but when a gay couple wants to get married it is the end of the world as we know it.  You may want to look up a facebook page called boycott Rush Limbaugh's sponsors.  There are more than one.  I suggest liking all of them and bugging the hell out of whatever sponsor is the focus of that time.  When I really want to rant I watch fox news for 5 minutes yelling at the screen the entire time.  I can't believe such ignorance is allowed to exist in 2012.

Sounds like the end of civilization at your place.  Tough luck, and expensive too.

I'm also pissed off because my laptop from work just won't connect to the internet when it's at my apartment.  It connects at my girlfriend's apt., and the cable guy who came over to look at it got it going at my place but when I try to do it myself, zippo.  One of my co-workers is coming over after work to see if he can figure it out.  I can't believe I'm going to this much trouble just so I can work at home as well as at the office.

People are complete dicks. Someone from my old 4-H group called a potential buyer for Vinnie and told them that he was dangerous and that he wasn't worth a penny. Said potential buyer then called and said that she did not want to see him anymore. It is shit like this that makes me regret getting into horses.

Oh I agree with you guys that I had had seen the warning as a good thing when I bought him, but I had talked to these people for a good week about Vinnie and my wishes for him. They wanted him as a companion to their other horse after they ha to put his buddy down. He would have had a nice life as a pasture puff. It just irritates the hell out of me that someone would do that behind my back.

I have a business associate I talk a lot of politics with.  He's very right, I'm very left, but both of us try to be open to reason.  Time and again we find the we are starting at 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock about an issue, but by the time we've hashed out the details we're at 11:30 and 12:30.

I think this is whats missing from politics today.  American politics anyway.

In MMP system, Mixed Member Proportional, we often get coalition governments, where one party doesn't have enough votes to rule alone.
This means that they must come to compromises in order to pass through policy.

This means a far right or far left party needs to get more centered.
Some of the pitfalls are that a center party can decide whether we have a right or left focused government e.g. Right gets 44% vote, Left gets 46%, Middle party gets 7%, they negotiate with both parties and decide they get a better deal with Right thus they make Right the new government.
This happened many times with us, our government changed from election to election but the Middle party always remained in government.

Sounds better then the US system where the pols lie about what they stand for before the election so they can get 51% of the vote, then do whatever they please once in office.  I find the actions of the US government is really quite discouraging, both on domestic and international stages.

Do other people feel as negative about thier governments?  Is that the norm?

Does this count as a rant?

Seems like a good'un to me!

In the UK we have a wet bunch of idiots for MPs, few of whom have ever had any experience outside the political world.  Something in the spirit of Mao's cultural revolution would be beneficial here  - nobody should be allowed to stand for election until they've done a number of years in an everyday job in manufacturing or service.  Not lecturing on politics in one of the crap new universities.

Details and definitions to be settled, of course.

Yes like a logical, well thought out rant.  Yes politicians do whatever they please when they get in office.  G.W. was the first one to pretty much do whatever the hell he wanted. I have actually talked to a poor person who was at a food pantry that claimed she was a republican.  I claimed that anyone who voted for somebody that put them in the position that they are in is an idiot.

I think The Guardian summed up my feeling towards politicians in an article a few days ago where they wrote "So there we have it, conclusive proof, should we have required it, that this country is being run by an even more insouciant version of Mr Kruger from Seinfeld (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6kVBGeQeR4#t=0m30s).", this current lot of conservatives are fucking clueless.

I am so glad we don't receive news feeds like Fox in the UK, I dont think we ever will thankfully. There is one thing good about the Lib Dems this year is that they have gone after Murdoch with full force. I always wondered if he watched the comedy The Day Today (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Pr8xnNi7OM) and thought to himself "that would be a good format for real news but with American TV sparkle".

Feeling like love is bullshit right now. Everyone forces on you that there's the right one out there for you since you're born, then you find the one (you think), then your emotions override your logic... then you end up the lonely asshole again. Unless you're one of those rare lucky ones that finds someone else who's willing to put in the work and effort to make a relationship work as hard as you do. Three years wasted... and for what??? Better to have loved and lost than not loved at all??? Bullshit!! This point I think I'd rather have just stayed single than put my heart, soul, money, time and everything else into being there for her and her kid only to have her fuck me over and over and over again... and not in the physical form of the word. Use him, take everything, throw him away... Fuck the ones who operate like that. Guess what... I HAVE FUCKING FEELINGS TOO!! Just cause I'm a man doesn't mean I just want to get laid and pay you to do it. Some of us want to be dad's and husbands, and be good at it. Oh she'll pretend she's gonna give me the family that I want... until she stops getting everything she wants, and realizes there's probably more successful men who can support her and her daughter with less effort on her part. Love doesn't pay her bills gentlemen.

Yes. I'm fucking jaded right now.

I follow a different path and never quite get to the point where a breakup would be necessary. Found out that getting romantically involved with somebody is more trouble than I am willing to live with. Sex without commitment, on the other hand... Good for my boredom.

Everyone wants different things. Some people find the trouble worth it, some people don't. I had some pretty horrible relationships before my current one, but it worked out in the end for me. Doesn't work for everyone.

Go find someone with big boobs to rebound with!  ;)

And remember to un-bound them first, otherwise the rebounding isn't nearly so much fun.

It is 11pm here. I am trying to sleep because I have work early in the morning. The people across the street are throwing a massive party with loud music and screaming and twice now there has been a fight in the street. I know it is Saturday and people like to party on Saturdays, but seriously.  >:(

*Edit: How wonderful, the Mexican music has now started.

*Edit-Holy shit another fight broke out. There are police here. I am a bit scared.

*Edit- Fuck, I just heard a gunshot. Not sleeping tonight.

Goddammit! Why did the crazy anti-abortion people have to show up at Parliament hill on Canada Day with their megaphones and their bloody fetus pictures and their Jesus pamphlets! Even if I was against abortion, I wouldn't want to see this shit alongside all of the other festivities. Some random guy with them came up to me and tried to give me a "brochure for the children of Canada" (maybe I looked like a good target because I had wee man with me). He was met with a very stern "NO THANK YOU", to which I got a "God Bless You."

I don't want your crazy-Jesus-fetus-agenda in my face while I'm hanging out with my family on a sunny afternoon!  >:( >:( >:(

I wonder if they're aware of how much they're preaching to the choir, and how repellent their antics are to everyone else?  Including those who don't approve of abortion but dislike public craziness?

While watching a show today, one character remarked to someone that their dead cousin would want them to go to school in their home town.  Hmm.  Why do we do that?  "Your grandma would want you to go to college, dear."  "Your dad would want you to keep playing baseball, junior."  "Your dearly departed husband would want you to be happy and find love again, Martha."  HOW DO YOU KNOW!?!?!!?  Maybe he wouldn't want to know that Martha has her legs pinned behind her ears giving some other guy the wildest fantasies she never gave him while he was alive!  Maybe dad discovered a dark secret about baseball just before his death!  Maybe grandma hated the very idea of college since she dropped out of school in the 8th grade to take care of her dad and 6 siblings after her mother died!  We don't know because they aren't here to tell us.  It just bugs me we assign thoughts, feelings, and even political and religious positions on people who aren't around to defend themselves.

BTW... I'm really bored today so this thread is awesome.

Do people not read. Every time I send something for production, to workmen, or artworkers I receive loads of questions and they are always very very clearly labeled in the plans, always getting the same reply "oh yeah so they are, I didn't have a proper look". Pains in my arse.

QuoteChristian Democratic leader Reverend Fred Nile (http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=8494839) said Girl Guides should be "ashamed" at acting disloyally toward the Queen.

"I was disgusted to see the Girl Guides, in a special ceremony, were removing the Queen's portrait from their meeting halls," he said in a statement on Friday.

"They should be ashamed of themselves for this act of disloyalty."

He urged the families of Girl Guide members to threaten a boycott until "they reverse this shameful, disloyal and atheistic policy".

I don't get it, how is the extreme disloyalty that is removing the Queen's portrait constitute a "atheistic policy"? Is the Queen a goddess or cult leader? ???

Perfect example of using religious bias to promote a political ideology. I don't think he believes its "atheistic" at all. Not sure if I'm offended by "atheistic" being clumped in with "shameful" and "disloyal"; maybe if I cared more. Could be the new 'gay': "Dude - you like modern art? That's so atheist."

There was a removal of god from the pledge.

QuoteThe refreshed Girl Guides' promise will see its 28,000-strong group promise to do their best "to be true to myself and develop my beliefs" rather than to "do my duty to God, to serve the Queen and my country".

I think the loyalty to queen thing is just an anachronism.  The queen has actualy made inclusive statements in regard to atheists, there is a thread about it somewhere. here http://www.happyatheistforum.com/forum/index.php?topic=6292.0

If you loved the queen so much you'd think her church would be the only choice but it isn't good enough for old Fred.

The problem is, most of the time I have no idea who is doing this stuff (besides the garbage shoot shenanigans, that's someone on our floor). The rest of the stuff could be anyone in the building, and there are over 150 apartments in my building, so I have nowhere to direct my rage and/or possible retribution.  >:(

Obviously the only sensible choice is a kind of scattergun of hostility.  Since you don't know which one of your neighbors is responsible, you must terrorize all of them.  It's the only way.

I'm into my 600th month, I hate time.

Is this a sneaky way of telling us it's your 50th birthday?
That saved me thinking! Well done!

And congratulations TMP!!!

Or you could talk the building superintendent into setting up some cameras. Then you could catch them on tape.

The building does have cameras, (and there are signs everywhere about not leaving trash around). I guess it's just hard to enforce if people are determined to not give a shit.  :-\

That's what hells do - one moment they are just beneath the surface, and then BOOM!

What the politician in me finds somewhat distasteful though, is the overall willingness to minimize the damage... The more-or-less lack of it, really.

I feel like if anybody tries to remedy it, the whole thing will just flare up again, making any attempt to remedy the situation futile. Maybe the best thing to do is really just to leave it at that and settle things in PMs where they have no chance of inciting opinions for now.

Obviously the only sensible choice is a kind of scattergun of hostility.  Since you don't know which one of your neighbors is responsible, you must terrorize all of them.  It's the only way.

I like it.

Also, maybe I'll start hiding in the garbage shoot and when I hear someone come in the garbage room and set their shit on the floor I'll leap out with a triumphant "AH-HAA!!!" That'd be pretty scary.

And please make sure it's on video! :)

I'd like to rant about the mankinis.  Wouldn't that just be a man wearing the bottom half of an ordinary bikini, so what the point of it having to go around the shoulders?  Isn't a speedo already a mankini?  Isn't a jock strap already a less fancy string bikini?  Both those garments stay in place just fine without having to depend from something.  The mankini is completely pointless and illogical!!  Bring back the banana hammock!
Title: Re: The Rant Thread

What...um....intrigues me.....about the mankini is that it leaves the hips and sides completely bare.  All in all I would say it's a horrible look, but the bare hips do catch the eye, I think because I don't know of another men's garment that bares that region of the body.  All told though, I do prefer a man in (at least) knee length shorts.

I just thought I'd clarify the whole situation behind this 'Finger' person, and rant as well, as I've been doing for the past four years.

Unfortunately I don't have the money to pay a renowned specialist like some, but I'm quite sure that that hag is a pathological narcissist and/or psychopath. Or something very close.

To get back at me out of an imagined attempt at something (intentional humiliation?) she went way over the top. Criminal invasion of privacy and an attempted set up to sue for damages. She got my family involved, which is something unforgivable, and I wouldn't want to be her when the day of reckoning comes.

I really hope none of you ever get involved with a parasitic pathetic leach like that piece of ****,  they try to destroy your life and feel entitled to do so. Seriously, if you do, go straight for the courts.

The situation she caused unfortunately is not one I can just turn my back to and leave. Like I said, she got my family involved and so I'm stuck with that ***** till I put an end to it somehow.

Also just as unfortunate, I don't have any evidence of her online trail, she took careful measures to try and avoid that from happening. It is really unfortunate...if only I had been smarter sooner.

Title: Re: The Rant Thread
Post by: xSilverPhinx on July 19, 2012, 09:39:22 AM
It is, but I've learned a lot from this experience. Things that she'll or anybody else will ever take away and that might be put into good use. I don't regret that aspect.

I seriously don't want to turn this into a pouring of my woes, but it started when I started college and by sheer stroke of bad luck she was the teacher of a class in a Letters course I had to take. She took me for hyperlexic, I found out, had a bit of an crisis because seriously, having a language disorder and taking a 4 year long language course? It gets a bit fuzzy from there because I didn't really know for sure what was going on. ???

The next thing I knew, I was at war...took a while to realise it though.  ::)

I'm not too sure about what else happened to make that creature publicly slander me, harass me online and on campus and conduct the organised harassment of my family members as well. I later found out that she was intent on to suing me for damages as well. Malignant/pathological narcissists don't take even the slightest humiliation or insult, perceived or real very well.

Basically she hates me and was so intent on destroying me that she went places and did things that she should never have. The woman surely has some major issues. Main problem is she got a a whole lot of people involved.

The past four years in a nutshell. :(

No, I'm not into crime books that much (though my father is, and has shelves full of them). If the main character is a cowardly, evasive, slimey, emotionally driven but not too smart, emotionally retarded psycho then, yep. I would say that's similar to her.

I finally got to by chance see the new - old Disney movie "The Princess and the Frog." Everyone made a big hubbab around it because they were "finally , a black princess." I was like kinda like "Ok...well,, all of their princesses are actually pretty diverse, but---"  I digress.

The point of the rant isn't about race in any way. I actually did like Tiana as a character in the beginning. I thought  she was cute, and it was good to see a hard working woman, wanting to fight for her dreams of owning a restaurant.

My biggest issue is how Disney just cannot seem to do a movie without a love story. Usually i'm fine with that. Actually, my fav Disney movies of all time are Aladdin, The Lion King , and Beauty and the beast.

But for some odd reason, this 'love story' bothered me. As it is, i am already someone who think it's really dangerous (ok, maybe extreme word, but kind of can't think of another one-- ) thinking to teach women that you meet a man and you MUST fall in love in them, and get married. I'm already annoyed at all romance bullshit (esp in North America.)

I guess I have an issue that Tiana was such a strong, independent woman, then she meets this spoiled trust fund brat and he falls for her in like-- I don't know-- the span of 24/48 hours?! Maybe that didn't bother me. Even though I hate the words ' love at first sight.' More like "Oh, you think this person is attractive and want to get to know them better.' I follow that motto for the most part.

And I hate to use this word, but i believe that getting to know someone before you declare your love is so important. I think it's a liiiitle bit important to show kids that it's not normal to fall in 'love' at such a short time and get married immediately. Why get married at all? Can't we show them that you can meet someone, get to know them-- maybe stay friends? And if you do have feelings, you can just be together without (le gasp) getting married?

I guess it really bothered me at the end when Tiana married Naveen. She should of gotten to know him. I mean, she seriously didn't know anything about him, aside from him being a spoiled trust fund brat, being cut off from his parents? I think they're cute, but do they -really- need to be a couple just because they have opposite genitals?

Sorry for rant. i just can't get it out of my head. ( I did really love Tiana. Oh my gosh, and her gorgeous dress *-*;; )
And the firefly Ray ;_; <3

I'm not sure if anyone is overly fussy about where you put stuff, if there is such a one we should just misplace stuff just to annoy them.  Cool post though, admirable sentiments.

Speaking as the man responsible for more derailings than Lawrence of Arabia, I'm with Pudding on that, SD.  ;)

Can you please explain to an old man what that's all about?  (You'll have to shout.)

There are a vast majority of people here who think Sweden and Switzerland are the same thing.
You mean they're not the same place?
:P
They are the same place, just watch this Swiss lady speak perfect Swedish
