As the latest teaser trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24mTIE4D9JM&list=UUz97F7dMxBNOfGYu3rx8aCw) for the latest Bond film has been released and the inevitable question must arise. Who is the best James Bond?
In my opinion it is easily Daniel Craig as he is the total opposite of my least favorite Bond Roger Moore. And the films with Daniel Craig are damn stylish even though there isn't much of a story. Though after watching the TV series Luther and The Wire I think Idris Elber could make a damn good Bond especially if they keep him salt and peppered and more rugged.
I would say it is a toss up between Sean Connery and Craig. I really enjoyed Casino Royale and the early Bond films. I just watched Dr. No again a couple nights ago and Casino Royale last night.
I think everyone can agree Roger Moore was awful.
Connery or Craig. The Connery movies have the disadvantage of being dated.
I don't remember seeing the original Casino Royal, it sounds interesting but...
Brosnan
My brother and girlfriend both would string me up for this but Craig all the way. Connery is a good actor, but I never believed he was anything but a good actor playing a spy. Craig I believe might actually be a spy.
I'd say it's a bitter fight to the death between Sean Connery and Pierce Brosnan. Craig is also pretty good, and can have the undisputed third place on my top 3...
Sean Connery. He's got the right mixture of suave and dangerous, and he carries those movies all the way. They may be dated, but they're still fun to watch thanks to him. I don't know if we'll be saying that about Daniel Craig in 40 years. I like him, I enjoyed Casino Royale, but I don't know that he really carries those movies.
Roger Moore was a joke
Never saw the Tim Dalton ones, heard it's not worth it.
And Pierce Brosnan? Goldeneye was a great film, but the rest were a joke, cringe-worthy bad, and he only seemed to encourage it. Almost Roger Moore-esque.
The worst of the worst is of course George Lazenby. There is a reason he only got to make one.
As for best, I don't know. My personal favourite is actually Timothy Dalton, just for Licence to kill.

How about Woody Allen as "Jimmy Bond" in "Casino Royale"? (7 Bonds in one film!)
I seem to recall that Ian Flemming once described Bond as basically a thug in a dinner jacket, in the original books. Daniel Craig is exactly like that, with just enough charm to keep him on the edge of a sympathetic character. Timothy Dalton was like that, but not to the extreme that Craig is. I like the disdainful quality Dalton and Craig gave to the role. Pierce Brosnan was a well balanced portrayal, great charm without going overboard. Roger Moore was way too "safe" a version of the character. Moore was without truly penetrating moments of rage and icy cold regard, the closest he came was kicking a car with a villain in it over a cliff, the best edgy moment for his Bond.
Lets see. Brosnan was born to play the role, Moore was campy and light, Craig is properly thuggish, Connery is of course definitive. So my vote goes to Dalton. What you thought I would even mention Lazenby not even I and that contrarian.
I go back far enough to have seen all of them in their films while released in theaters, and I read at least six of the novels that I can recall. Up until Daniel Craig, it was hands down, Connery. Moore (who I liked back in the day, with Live and Let Die) was just too prissy. Lazemby was a stiff. I thought I'd really like Dalton when he got the role, and he was pretty good, but his movies weren't.
I got really excited (not in THAT way!) when Brosnan got the part. IMO, he was way better as Remington Steele. Unlike Moore, not too prissy, but he was so dam slight of build it looked like Famke Jansen should have snapped him like a toothpick. But I did like him in the role.
Back to Craig. In his first outing, he was the only guy to play Bond who made me forget about Connery. He owns it now. Definitely my favorite, as long as he can have some staying power with the role and not make any more stinkers (QofS).

I didn't like a single Bond movie, but I think that of the lot, I'd pick Connery as well.

No. Although I would have liked to age as well as he does, I think.
He gets my vote for having the most agreeable presense of the bunch and being very good at his job.
Connery, hands down. Can't top the original.
