I just found this on the Channel 4 website and thought it was quite amusing. Its a citizenship test based off the official "life in the UK" test which is required for British citizenship. I'm not sure if it will work with people that aren't in the UK but hey just give it a go.
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/make-bradford-british/articles/channel-4-citizenship-test
I was accepted at 88% correct.
Wow, I totally flunked that one. I didn't realize how little I knew about being in the UK!
I did, however, get 18/20 in this: How Canadian are you, eh (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/games/how-canadian-are-you-eh/index.asp)? quiz.
42%. I suck at being British.
6/24. Oops!

Only 30%, or 6/20. That's embarrassing, Canada is right next door!

Damn! I had no idea what half of those questions were except for the obvious ones. I got 6 out of 20.
9/24, it's not my fault I failed, British society is counter intuitive.
I did bet heavily on the lower-left options.
80% on the Canadian test (phew . . . that's not embarassing, right?)
25% on the British test (that one is).
And wtf is a 'television license'?

No its not a trick, the fee is supposed to be for the BBC I think.
Why they just don't scrap it and raise the rate of another tax I don't know. I can imagine reasons but they don't seem valid to me, maybe when only rich people had TVs it would have been fair.

If you watch TV broadcast be it on a TV, computer, smart phone, or tablet devise you pay a license fee (£145 there about and changes dependent upon certain circumstances) it funds the BBC TV, radio and internet content. I don't really mind paying for it as the BBC has generally good content however there are many people that hate it.
33% Brit
7/20 Canadian
...well bugger.
Wait, there's countries without a tv license?! :o

Over the years the science and natural history output has almost been worth the license fee all on it's own.

35% Canadian
Guess I'm not welcome anywhere.
Still, it's nice to know that idiots like me aren't being let into the country!
+1 for the BBC. One of the few value-for-money taxes in this country.
12/24 not great given I'm British! Stiill, most of the questions weren't about anything I'm interested in.

Ahh, the joys of TV and Radio without adverts...
[smug sigh]
Haha, I knew about the television license because I love The Young Ones and there is an episode where Vyvyan eats the "telly" because they haven't got a license and the television inspector was there (are there really television inspectors?) Hahahahahahahaha, he was all "It's a toaster." when she asked if he had eaten the "telly" because he had a cord hanging out of his mouth.
I love that show.
I think my love of British shows from the 80's should automatically add a couple of points to my "Are you British enough" score.
67% Kick me out now.

There sure are. Basically they have records of everyone who has a TV license (which should be +/- every household, right?!). They then systematically send lots of threatening letters to the errant addresses and follow them up (eventually) with personal visits. Of course, unless you actually let them in (which you're within your rights to refuse) and SEE your TV there's not a lot they can do to prove you need a license. It seems fairly easy to avoid paying it, but if you are caught (e.g by having the TV visible from a front window) it's a big fine. Not really worth the worry really.
We have 100ish channels at home and we end up on BBC for 90% of our viewing time.
Or you could just eat your telly when the inspector shows up.
7/24 guessed on all of them.

Totally agree. I cant even really think of any good science shows that weren't funded by the BBC, with the only exception I can think of being the Japanese program SCIENCE ZERO.
Being Irish, I deliberately got all the answers wrong.
38% Bitish and 70% Canadian. It helps that a lot of the Canadian questions are closely related to US history. Do I get bonus points for speaking French? :D

Hey what?
The Canadian quiz had 4287 questions, can someone with so little perseverance be accepted as a true Canadian?
How is such a one going to survive the long winters trapped in their cabin till the thaw frees them, with only seal oil for the lamp, seal flipper for the pie, seal fur blanket and seal companion for the bed? The old ways pass away and no one listens to those who see we are slipping into something, I forgot what but be assured you won't like it.

Sorry, 'that sounds like a challenge' in the sense that you want to see what I know about British pop culture, or a challenge in the sense that it's unfortunate I don't know much about the British government/fiscal policies etc? :)
I'd definitely really enjoy a thread about the former, if we were rambling about British TV, food, music, comedy, etc etc. That'd be fun. If you're up for it, I'll start a thread.

I have an American friend, Will, who is a self confessed Anglophile and he puts my knowledge of English history to shame. I can name the following monarchs and know something about them Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Victoria & Queen Elizabeth II. Oh and Charles I as he got his head cut off. But that's it. Will came over to stay and spent a week in London and his knowledge of English history was encyclopaedic. It was like having a walking Wikipedia with us! I was quite ashamed of myself. But our history teacher was a very left wing socialist so we learned about the Industrial Revolution etc. etc.

Her portrail of Thatcher is very good, unfortunately. It brings back vivid memories of the woman who did more damage to the UK than Hitler ever did. She reduced the population to tax production units.

That's a fair point. This isn't so much a test of British "culture" as British politics. And since British culture, at least presently, is one of political apathy, you should be counted as more British for doing badly in the test than for doing well. :D

Me too. One time we had a math test that was entirely multiple choice... I guessed on EVERY single answer simply by knowing how my teacher usually constructed multiple choice tests, rather than knowing anything about the math itself, and I still managed to pull off a 56% (which is bad, but a pass here). :D
