After a few of us members of HAF realized we aren't on Facebook I became curious to know how many of the users here at HAF do utilize social media, which platforms they do use and which ones are more popular than others.
Also curious why or why not a particular user may prefer one form over the other, so if folks are willing maybe leave a comment after placing your vote describing why you do or don't use a particular social media account.
P.S If there are any platforms I haven't listed please let me know and I can add it, also this is my first poll, so any suggestions would be not only welcome, but appreciated.
I have accounts with most of those, but I don't think I could call my limited activities with them as "utilizing" them.

I don't know if you voted or not Davin, but I had to remove the poll while I tweaked it. So if you did vote can you please go back and vote again?
I have an account with all of those, but I think I use Twitter the most... which doesn't make much sense because I understand the purpose of that one the least. If reddit counted, I use that one the most.
Hey, where is the "None of the above" option?
You are denying me my franchise!
(OK, I use Imgur to link pics and, maybe, have a line or two of chat there once every other Tuesday with an "r" in the month in response to comments about any public pics there.)
The system reprimanded me for not selecting anything when I pressed the submit button.
I added "None of the Above" as an option. 8)

Thanks, Bru.
Is Imgur not chatty enough to qualify? In my very limited experience the chat is about the pics and a few jokes, no real "social" content, but there are "upvotes" and "downvotes".

I don't actually use my LinkedIn, I think I needed one to apply for something at some point. Or something.
I'm really only on Facebook because it's the oldest, just about everyone has one, and I don't like switching platforms and I find multiple accounts are usually redundant. I was on MySpace before that but I think they're legit gone now?
I've considered starting a Twitter but it would end in a cesspool of rape threats. I already know this. There's just no point.
Snapchat should maybe be added due to popularity, although it's very much a young demographic I don't know any of us fall in to.

Er, now how do I change my vote?
(Damn, should have kept quiet just to be in a minority! But, honesty is the path to poverty, er, I mean honour.)

I don't know how to change your vote. :o I'm a newbie as well with this. Mods? Help?
I use Twitter, but not as a true social platform. By that I mean none of the people I follow or those who follow me do I know personally. I more or less use it as a news source, and don't actually post anything personal.
Same with Instagram. I only belong to that one because several people I receive emails from or who's blogs I read are on it, and I found it more accessible for some of my interests (Mainly cooking and yoga stuff, as I'm a vegetarian yoga dude)
Could our own Happy Atheist Forum not qualify as a Social Medium?

Sorted. There is now an option 'Remove Vote'. Click it and re-vote. When you set up a poll there is a tick box to select this option.

It does. And by definition we all use it
I've become a bit of a Facebook addict. I don't have to mind my Ps & Qs there in the way I do here. And if some psychopathic lunatic theist fundamentalists rocks up I can just block them. I'm also enjoying getting to know a whole bunch of people way out of my comfort zone in the shape of loads of bouncy friendly Nigerians.

In that case I am happy that there isn't a choice "I never use any Social Media".
That would lead to a self-referential paradox that could destroy our universe.

I shall sleep peacefully knowing that.
I really can't stand Facebook, although I do check it a couple times a week. And the only reason I got an account with imgur was to post pictures to this forum. I'm kind of anti-social as far as media goes. I would so much rather see a person's face if I'm gonna talk to them. And I'm not the kind to post my success or happy stuff on Facebook for everyone to Like and comment on. I don't really care if I'm not in the center of people's thoughts every day.
I joined FB because most of my family and all of my friends were on it and, since we're a widely spread bunch, it's easiest to keep up with them this way. Tho I also still write letters, just because.
I used Flickr as well, but they seemed to have changed the way they do things and I can't post my pictures from Flickr to here anymore. I'm going to have to look into Imgur.
I have a lot of those, but of them I mostly use Facebook. FB is where all of my friends are.
I don't understand SnapChat or Instagram. I don't much care for Twitter because although there are people I like on there, the format is just awful. I don't feel like I can have conversations with people because the character limit is atrocious.
I miss blog social media. Xanga and Live Journal were where its at. None of this status update character limit nonsense, instead actual entries that give you an insight into how your friends are doing.

I lasted 3 days on Twitter. All I wanted was to be able to follow a few people but I had no control over the landslide of rubbish coming in.
I look at FB and do 'likes' and the odd comment, but I rarely post.
I only do FB for my Stop the Wall activities.
I've been using Imgur lately because tinypic has been having technical difficulties. I actually was not aware that it was anything but an image sharing site.

It has a chat area largely confined to comment about the publicly posted pictures. Nothing like Fb or Twitter but what is actually required to be a "social media"!
So far, at least, there is no real social or political etc content in my experience.
