There isn't any rule about what you vote for in these things, except the number of votes each member is allowed. You can vote for any photos you want to, for whatever reason. :)

I'll tell my story about mine when the contest is over.
Mine were 3, 10 and 16
3 was one of the entries in a street art exhibition in Gloucester. With my enjoyment of scifi and fantasy it sort of pulls my strings and presses my buttons!
10 is the 1918 statue of my favourite historical figure, the Anglo-Saxon Æthelflæd, a genuine warrior princess, daughter of Alfred the Great and Lady of Mercia, with her nephew Æthelstan, who was to become the first king of a united England. She died in 918.
16 was an entry in the "Crucible 2" exhibition in Gloucester Cathedral. Just something about the power - plus the skills that went into the concept and the cutting and welding of the parts.

My photos were #2 and #9. My Dad found #2 on the computer one day and decided to keep it. #9 Is my baby duck I used to have right after she hatched. She got separated from her family so I took her in and raised her then let her go.

It is probably quite obvious that photo #5 was taken in Santorini, one of my favourite places in the world.
I hope photo #12 shows how elated my partner Sajib was when we finally got to visit Niagara Falls. I think everything lines up nicely to lead the eye to the focal point: his happy face face and his little dance of joy.
The location of photo #18 is probably not as obvious as the other two. It was taken late one afternoon in Port Elizabeth, a city on the east coast of South Africa, when I was there on a business trip a few years ago.
I will try to think of a good theme for the next photo challenge.

Yes, there are areas that look and feel quite Mediterranean around Cape Town. Even the climate - hence its importance as an excellent wine producing region. If I knew I had forgotten that you were in South Africa. Had a lovely meal at a wonderful restaurant in Camps Bay. And you're quite right it feels very Mediterranean.
I think my favorites out of this lot (leaving aside my own of course!) were Dragonia's Indian pipe, Tank's pigs, and Lark's man with a horse. :)
The pigs had just eaten the contents of the bowl and so stuffed they fell asleep.
I was very surprised that Recusant's heron didn't do better. The clarity and colours are wonderful.
