It's now expected to be a category four or five when it makes landfall. This could be bad. Really, really bad.

At this point, as much as I hate to say it, I'm really hoping it slams into the Carolinas when it lands. I hate that anyone would have to go through that but I'm really not confident that the house I'm living in woyld stand up to a storm like that.

Keep in touch when you can, please, JJ.

I'm hoping I have enough batteries to keep things charged up. And that the cell towers keep working.

I'm less than confident my house would stand up to that.

The weather is warming.
It is the blessed period between the wood splitting and the mowing.
I've got my kayak on my car roof.
Take my advice, don't listen to me.

For no particular reason, this reminded me of this:

Seagoon:
...that due to the canal closing British aeroplanes are forced to fly around the Cape. [pause for laughs] It is my intention to cut a canal across Africa so that they can fly over that.

Henry Crun:
High over a canal? What if they crash, They'll all drown!

Minnie Bannister:

Yes.

Seagoon:
Don't worry folks, hallo folks! All aeroplanes will be fitted with the new wooden lifeboats.

Attlee:
Yes, but even lifeboats can sink!

Seagoon:
They can't in this canal, there's not going to be any water in it!

Not to be a downer, but I was watching the Weather Channnel last yet (they have 24 hr hurricane watch) and flooding to a level of 9' is predicted.

Well, the hurricane seems to be a bit of a bust, at least up this way. The storm lost most of its power on the way in and seems to be stalling just off the coast. The Carolinas might still be in for it but nothing like what was anticipated earlier this week.
