I have heard of Jeopardy but never seen an episode.
If religions were TV channels atheism is turning the TV off.

Jeopardy would fit rather well in British television. A trivia competition in the same tradition as pub quizzes and the many quiz shows on British TV.

Trebeck was an outstanding example of the show host species. He had dignity, but was always willing to slip in a bit of dry humor or even some silliness on occasion. There used to be a few of his calibre on American television--Don Pardo (a previous host of Jeopardy) was one of them but I can't think of any who even come close now. In the UK, the hosts of Pointless have a similar approach.

Not that that sort of class is a requirement, far from it, but it adds considerably to the quality of a program, in my opinion.

There are a lot of sad people who enjoyed having Trebeck on their sets of an evening.
