Researchers make remarkable find inside supermassive black hole

This is quite fascinating.

QuoteOct. 1 (UPI) -- Using the Very Large Telescope, a powerful observatory in Chile, astronomers have identified six galaxies trapped in the web of a supermassive black hole when the universe was just 900 million years old.

The discovery, described Thursday in the journal Astronomy and Astrophysics, helps explain how supermassive black holes got so big so soon after the Big Bang.

I agree that it's a cool discovery, but the title of the article is inaccurate. The headline editor went for clicks instead of veracity, which is typical. The writing of the article itself is a bit better, but the caption of the image saying that the galaxies are "trapped in a web of gas" is once more inaccurate and sensationalist. Again, probably not the author of the article but another editor, I expect.

Turns out to be a "massive dark matter halo." Hmm

I was wondering how information managed to escape from a black hole.

I don't know how one goes about getting the job of headline editor, but it seems being a bit of a dolt may be a job requirement. If that headline were accurate it would be announcing a profoundly important event, however improbable.

Yes, at first glance I realized already that something was amiss but I didn't want to change the headline. If light can't escape a black hole then how could anybody see inside one. Still, I liked the article.
